It’s been a while since Self-Portrait popped up on my (and everyone else’s) fashion radar and the hype for their delicate lace dresses has slowed down a little by now, but I still can’t get over them. Whenever I look at Self-Portrait’s newest lookbook, I feel like I want to add every single piece to my cart. Every dress looks so feminine, intricate and simply stunning! The influence Self-Portrait had on many of the recent lace dress designs which have come out within the last two years is very noticeable. And Bardot seems to have taken notice as well. Their Ava lace dress instantly reminded me of Self-Portrait’s unique, standout aesthetic, but at first I couldn’t quite pinpoint it to a particular design. So I did some deep digging and after studying dozens (maybe hundreds?) of Self-Portrait dress styles, I finally figured that Ava must be a hybrid dress that combines two of Self-Portrait’s designs; one that retails for over $500 and one that’s priced at $390. Luckily, Bardot’s Frankenstein dress isn’t remotely *that* expensive. The retail price was set to $189, but it’s currently on sale for $132.30 at Bloomingdale’s and if you’re quick to act, you can get an extra 25% off which will knock another $33 off the price for this dress. Paying $99 instead of $910? I won’t say no to that kind of bargain deal!
