It’s all about military style this fall. Balmain started it, Burberry Prorsum refined it and the rest came along. Now we’re seeing tons of army green chinos, studded combat boots and military jackets. If you’re loving this trend, but don’t have the cash to follow into Balmain’s footsteps, here’s a budget-friendly outfit I created with all items being available at Charlotte Russe. The total cost of this outfit sums up to a fair $137 and quite frankly I’m a little proud of myself. I’m especially loving the boots here.
Have we talked enough about Burberry Prorsum‘s Fall 2010 collection yet? Well, I haven’t, so I guess you either roll with it or skip reading this blog until next spring. Why you wonder? Because this collection has set the biggest trends for every fast-fashion chain and there’s no way you won’t come across Burberry inspired fashion this fall and winter. All the fur-trimmed jackets, shoes, handbags, anything really… it all comes down to Burberry. The aviator theme and the army green military coats? It all started with Burberry.
Burberry Prorsum Shearling and Wool Jacket
Not everyone can honor trendsetter Burberry by spending a fortune on a seasonal jacket. But fear not because Free People has come up with a pretty decent Burberry alternative for less than 1/10 of the original’s price. Their bomber jacket might be a lot more tamed in design and it also lacks a few of the delicate details that make the original stand out so much, but the Burberry influences are still more than obvious here, don’t you agree?

I jumped on the skinny cargo movement a couple months back, so you know I just adore Leighton Meester in this utilitarian look. I didn’t think skinny cargos could be flattering, but the more I see them on, the more I am proved wrong. Leighton’s look may be neutral, but it’s anything but boring. And the best part is it is so easy to recreate, as you can see below.

If you’ve taken notice of some fashion forward ladies this summer, then you have seen the emergence of what is going to stylishly take the world by storm this fall: military chic. If you’re picturing obnoxious camo and intense patchwork, you couldn’t be more mistaken. This style will be defined by the khaki colors and simple fabrics (canvas, cotton, leather, parachute) – all understated, but in no-nonsense silhouettes with some perfectly placed buttons. Not too long ago we featured this Balmain collection, clearly ahead of its time Runway to Real Way – Balmain S/S 2010 Military Chic
