Real vs. Steal – Givenchy Prue Micro-Stud Buckle Booties

Every few couple years or so, a new designer ankle boot emerges to take over the fashion world by storm. It then quickly becomes an iconic must-have staple in the seemingly endless shoe closets of every fashion-conscious stylist, celebrity, influencer and editor. Right now I feel like it’s Givenchy turn for some serious shoe fame. Their “Prue” ankle boot is a classic, flat biker boot with 4 buckled straps and micro-stud details which you’ve probably seen dozens of times on the feet of your favorite Insta-people by now. It’s a shoe versatile enough to work with a lot of different fashion styles, but still detailed enough to stand out on its own to spice up an otherwise basic or bland outfit. Unfortunately, this much fabulousness comes at a very hefty price: $1.395! Let’s not kid ourselves: that’s a lot of money which probably would be more wisely spent on other, more useful things. You know, boring grown-up stuff like rent, mortgage, food and health insurance. Luckily, we’ve found various just as stylish, affordable Givenchy Prue alternatives that will leave enough money in your pockets to pay the bills.

Update (01/03/2019): If you’re looking for something more affordable, have a look at these studded boots I discovered at Chinese Laundry. These have only 3 instead of 4 buckle straps, but the overall look is still obviously an hommage to the Givenchy design. Did I mention these are on sale for less than $70?

Another one of my Givenchy dupe favorites are these lovely Office ankle boots I spotted at ASOS recently. Again, heavily inspired by the pricey designer original, but not an identical 1:1 copy. If you’re not a fan of excessive studding, a similar version sans studs on the buckle straps is the “Amsterdam” boot (£90), also by Office.
