Self-Portrait. How could we have possibly missed out on covering this new and super coveted brand for so long? Sorry about that, folks. But before we head into showing you our best Self-Portrait steal finds, here are a few facts about the contemporary fashion label: it was founded in 2013 by Han Chong (also former creative director of Three Floor) and quickly gained red carpet and social media buzz shortly after, landing dress gigs with celebrities such as Reese Witherspoon and Miranda Kerr as well as personal style bloggers like Chiara Ferragni (The Blonde Salad) and Kristina Bazan (Kayture). The signature aesthetic of the London-based brand are feminine, romantic dresses and separates with lots of lace, embroidery and sheer overlays which have a surprisingly appealing price point: Dresses typically fall in the $500-$600 price range. And while I honestly applaud Han Chong for wanting to create a mid-priced fashion label with lots of attention to detail, $480 is still a lot of money for a lot of people (even though I’ll admit the “Azaelea” dress, which by the way got silently renamed correctly to “Azalea” in the meantime, thus probably referring to the flower, pictured below looks like it’s worth every penny of it). Keep on reading to find various stylish Self-Portrait dress alternatives for much less.

LuLu*s Pinnacle of Prestige Lace Midi Dress

If you can’t afford spending half a grand on a flirty summer dress, here’s our best steal find (yet!) which I discovered at LuLu*s some time ago. And I would’ve showed you this lovely $64 lace midi dress some time ago already, but it kept selling out so fast – restock after restock – that I didn’t even have enough time to finish up this blog post before this dress was completely sold out again, so I patiently waited until it got restocked for what feels like the tenth time now and for the first time it didn’t sell out in the first 60 minutes. Yay! However, this dress is obviously still wildly popular, so I wouldn’t wait too long with buying. Who knows if it’ll be restocked for an eleventh time?

Persun Flower Embellished Cami Dress

And of course, where there’s a trend Asian copycats can’t be too far away. The design of the Persun midi lace dress is very close to the real deal (including the colors), but I can’t tell for sure whether the quality is worth paying $37.99 for.

Similar dress options are also available by Choies & Jessica Buurman.

Free People South Of The Equator Midi Dress

OK, now this Self-Portrait steal find kind of irritates me. Don’t get me wrong: I love Free People and I looooove designer dupes. But what I don’t understand is how you can blatantly copy a $480 dress and then sell your own copied version for a whopping $300 (now on sale for $69.95), thus making both dresses compete in the same price range? Now that’s a little shameless, isn’t it? Even for blatant copycats. Anyway, I still wanted to include this dress option because it does look a lot like the real deal and it is in fact still $180 $380 cheaper than the original, so if you’re OK with paying that much money for a copycat design, feel free to do so.

Seems like we can’t catch a break from satin slides at the moment and to be honest with you: I don’t really mind! There’s just something so effortlessly chic about slipping into a pair of delicate satin mules, don’t you agree? A few days ago, I was looking through the newest arrivals at my favorite online shops when I saw a picture of Dolce Vita’s “Henry” Cross-Strap Satin Mules. The design seemed instantly familiar to me, but I couldn’t put my finger on the designer inspiration right away. So I kept on browsing while my brain was doing its usual shoe memory scanning process in the background. And suddenly it just hit me that the Dolce Vita design was a lovely hybrid of Gucci’s “Webby” High Heel Mule from last year and Gianvito Rossi’s “Barth” Sandal Slides which we have already featured here in a previous blog post. Copycat math has striked once again! And I must admit: $595 + $645 = $130 is exactly the kind of shopping math that I like!

While I admittedly do not know much about The Row other than it’s a fashion label launched by the Olsen twins, I do know that I really, really like their “April” Bow Satin Slides. Intendedly or not, these sandals combine three current fashion trends: 1) knotted bows on 2) flat slides embedded in 3) shiny satin fabric. It’s all about laid-back comfort footwear these days and I have to admit: I like it! What I don’t like though is the $795 price tag on what is basically just a thong sandal. You’re cute, April, but you’re not that cute! We’ll talk again in the sale section.

Still not convinced? How about these fabulous and super affordable The Row look-alikes I found at GoJane then? They have the same spot-on design, come in a variety of lovely summer colors including mint green and periwinkle blue and they cost under $20! Plus, GoJane is currently running a promotion where you will get 20% off your order with promo code “TAKE20“. This would lower the price of the slide sandals down to a super steal-worthy $15.20! Definite steal deal alert!

Up until recently British designer J.W. Anderson hasn’t been on my fashion radar, but now that I’ve seen his latest womenswear collections, especially the bags and the shoes, I immediately subscribed to his various social media channels in order to never miss out on his future creations again. But let me give you an example of J.W. Anderson’s unique aesthetic first: look at these gorgeous asymmetrical pointy ruffle booties below! I love the boldness of the ruffles and the fact that the asymmetric arrangement forms a forward-facing arrow when both feet are standing next to each other. What I’m not loving though is the price: $840 in retail and even the sale price of $570.99 is still pretty hefty!

Just as recently promised today is the day we’re finally covering the incredibly popular Gucci “Princetown” loafer mules that have been constantly flooding our fashion feeds for roughly the past twelve months. If Stuart Weitzman’s “Highland” overknee boots have been the “It“-shoe for Fall/Winter, Gucci’s “Princetown” is the absolute must-have shoe for Spring/Summer. We’re admittedly pretty late to the party, but even though the loafer mule trend has been around for quite a while now, there seem to be no signs of slowing down anytime soon. And with Spring around the corner, Gucci’s “Princetown” is the perfect addition to your wardrobe. That is, if you can stomach the price tag of $595, of course. Luckily, there’s no need to shell out a fortune to be right on trend this season as we have compiled a list of more than *drumroll please* 20, yes, TWENTY Gucci “Princetown” alternatives for you to satisfy all your fashion needs! This is an absolute first in the history of this blog; to start out with so many designer dupes right from the get-go. It only goes to show just how insanely popular (and probably super comfy) this footwear trend is at the moment. I also love how ELLE referred to loafer mules as “…the mullet of office-friendly footwear” which is one of the funniest fashion metaphors I’ve read in a while.

AnnaKastle Backless Slip-On Loafer Mules

AnnaKastle is a brand I have recently discovered on Amazon and they have the biggest selection of Gucci “Princetown” dupes I’ve yet come across. Fur, no fur, embroidered, printed, you name it, they got it. I assume the merchant is operating somewhere from Asia to be able to produce such spot-on “Princetown” look-alikes and most of the dupes sell for ~$50. Customer reviews average around 4/5 stars, so I’d say they’re worth taking a closer look at. I wouldn’t say they’ll last you a lifetime, but if you want to try the trend without breaking the bank, this one might be a suitable option. By the way, my personal favorite of the Gucci dupe bunch is the rose embroidered one, it’s so pretty!

I bought these in black and am really liking them so far! A cute and affordable way if you don’t want to spend $600 on the real deal.
