It’s been a while since we last had a new addition to the team, but we are proud to welcome our newest writer, Juliana, to the team. Read her interview below to get to know her better and don’t be shy and give Juliana a warm welcome here @ ITC.
Juliana, please tell our readers a few things about yourself. Where do you come from? What are you doing for a living? What’s your favorite food & color?
J: My favorite type of food is probably anything Mediterranean and I love baking creative desserts!
My favorite colors are Caribbean colors; I love cobalt blue, emerald green, coral red, and citrine yellow.
How did you get involved with fashion?
J: I’ve been playing dress up all of my life, so it has been a natural progression. My Bachelor’s degree is in architecture and while studying design I learned to appreciate fashion from a new perspective. Just as an architect must design for the site he or she has been provided, a woman or man should dress to complement his/her own body and unique features.
What’s your personal style? Any favorite designers/brands?
J: My current style words are: Sophisticated, feminine, tailored, approachable, and creative.
I am inspired by: Chanel, Chloé, Louis Vuitton, Valentino, Azzedine Alaïa, Alexander McQueen, Lanvin, Ralph Rucci, Gianfranco Ferré, Stella McCartney, Bulgari, Van Cleef and Arpels, Brian Atwood, Roger Vivier, Tory Burch, Elizabeth and James, Kenneth Jay Lane and vintage accessories!
How long have you been following InTheirCloset.com already and how come you wanted to write for us?
J: I’ve been following InTheirCloset.com for a month, and I love the Real vs. Steal posts because they can really help out a stylish girl on a budget! I love sharing ideas and wardrobe advice, so I thought ITC would make a great platform.
If I was a fashion-item, I’d be…
J: A Van Cleef and Arpels vintage convertible jewelry piece. The kind that you can transform from a stunning broach to pair of earrings and a pendant. I first saw a set like this on 60 Minutes and was mesmerized.
I would never wear…
J: Anything in which I felt uncomfortable.
I can’t leave the house without…
J: Lipstick. I learned this from Holly Golightly (and my mother).
Best Spring 2012 collection?
J: There were some beautiful dresses at Oscar de la Renta. I loved the use of lime green and citrine yellow.
Your mantra for 2012?
J: “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable.” (Helen Keller)
Thank you, Juliana, for taking the time to answer these questions and again, WELCOME!
