Wow… what’s there to say about Penélope Cruz in this incredible nude sheath by Dolce & Gabbana except caliente? She looks phenomenal. The dress is exquisite, as are the to-die-for nude Christian Louboutin peep-toes. She gets two thumbs up, an A++, and first place.

Penélope Cruz’ Look 4 Less
Love Pen in that frock, and I’m sure you do too. So here’s the real-world, real-girl version, for less than $243. And a customer testimonial for you…I have those nude Whitsey pumps, and they are astoundingly fabulous! If you follow me on Twitter (@gritandglamour), you can see a photo of them on me (and let’s hope you’re already a follower of @intheircloset, because you often get our amazing sale scoop there first). They are my new favorite pumps, and mind you, I’m not a big fan of peep-toes. But this is a very special shoe. Truuuuuust me. Happy spring and happy shopping!

Alexander Wang is arguably the master of rock grunge. His clothes are exquisitely designed but also have a downtown edge. So leave it to Wang to create a LBD that is equal parts East-Village and Red-Carpet. A nude under layer hints at skin without actually showing any and a sweetheart neckline adds…well, sweetness. I’ll tell you what isn’t sweet, though: that price tag. Oh, and did we mention it’s also sold out? Sit tight, though, we just might have something for you…

Topshop Bandage Ruch Bandeau Dress
Topshop‘s “Bandage Ruch Bandeau Dress” might not be a dead-ringer for the Alexander Wang dress above, but by golly it’s darn close. I might even argue that it’s better. I’m really enjoying the thicker bands of fabric that are strategically placed over the hip and bust area. Of course we still have that hint of a sweetheart neckline and the mini-length and at $90 ($90!) this really is a steal. I predict this one will sell out fast.

Someone take my temperature, please. I have never, ever been a fan of “Maxi” dresses, however recently I have found myself really drawn to them. There is something so effortless about a long dress, and because of its length, it can look quite elegant or be quite casual, depending on what you pair it with. I think a perfect example of this trend done right is the Elizabeth and James Tulip dress. I’m nuts over the contrasting shirred bodice and chiffon skirt and how flattering is that tulip shape?! It’s absurdly pretty. Sadly, as is the case with all Elizabeth and James clothing, this delightful dress is totally out of my price range. And sold out.

If you, like me, were a big fan of the Elizabeth and James Tulip dress but not such a fan of the price-tag, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by our “Steal” recommendation. How cute is this “Zoe” dress by Element? Not only does it have the bandeau top and tulip skirt, but it combines the springy, peachy colors of the first dress we featured above, with the peacock print of the second! This dress will easily take you from the beach to a restaurant: just swap the flip-flops for some heels.

What better way to celebrate the annual recurrence of Spring then with the lightest, sweetest, airiest of frocks? As our celebrities artfully demonstrate below, this D&G dress can be dressed up with cute, lady-like shoes or dressed down with chunky platforms and a chain belt. Unfortunately, as versatile as this dress may be, it is also seriously out of our price range (even at its sale price!).

ABS by Allen Schwartz Short Butterfly Dress
Fortunately for us, there exists a designer like Allen Schwartz who has long been in the market of re-creating celebrity dresses. Their “Butterfly” dress is a near-perfect copy of its much more expensive cousin. The dress is white rather than ballerina-pink, but the beautiful shirred bodice and floaty chiffon skirt tell the same whimsical story as the original – and at a much nicer price.

I think we can all agree, whether you like her or not, that Angelina Jolie is one of the sexiest women on the planet. Because she wears a lot of streamlined silhouettes and a lot of black, however, she manages to almost always look both current and classic. Now that she’s a mom she seems to gravitate towards longer, more covered dresses but not so for her hubby Brad’s premiere of Inglourious Basterds. This Michael Kors dress has a classic cut but the leather gives it the perfect “Angelina” edge. It also has pockets, which automatically wins it points in my book. Fortunately the look is simple enough that it can be easily duped.

Mango Strapless Leather Look Dress
This Mango dress is missing some of the sweet details of the original but the basic look is there. The strapless neckline and of course the (faux) leather make this dress sexy but the suggestiveness is offset by the knee-length hemline, just like in the Michael Kors original. There’s no seam-definition at the waist but the material clearly hugs your curves in all the right places. For well under $100, this dress deserves a go.

Sele Strapless Faux-Leather Dress
Now this version by Sele is probably least like the original, but it’s also my favorite. The matte faux leather might lack the “specialness” that the original has but the hint of a sweetheart neckline adds interest to the top half of the dress. I’m also a fan of the subtle darts, vertical seams and defined waist. All in all this is a well-tailored, pretty dress, and at less than $100 (again?! Man, we’re good) why not give it a whirl?
