Slides

There’s nothing like having a nude pair of shoes to slide into during the warmer times of the year! It’s such a great color especially when it comes in patent and the color is so versatile it can go with TONS of stuff! So, you can see why these Jimmy Choo Phyllis Espadrille Slides are absolutely noteworthy to be featured! I can’t wait to have my ice cold drink next to the pool while admiring my feet with these bad boys on! Yet, retailing at $375 this might break the bank for some, so here is a more affordable option…

Now I really try not to jump on every trend that comes wafting my way but I gotta tell ya, clogs had me at “Hello!“. I have no real excuse for this. I’m not Dutch. I didn’t grow up in the 70s. But they call to me. There’s something so easy and carefree about them. Even when they’re sporting a 5 inch heel. There were a couple of designers that really caught my eye in the clog department this past S/S 2010 show season, but Miu Miu definitely tops my list. Look how cute they look on fashion blogger, Rumi, below. I love how the bridge of the shoe looks like it’s been worn down some; and I love the studs. I love, I love, but I can never afford. Boo! In any case, these are – not surprisingly – completely sold out.

ASOS “PROMISE” Leather Studded Clogs

ASOS and I are friends and I’ll tell you why. Because they always make great versions of the celebrity shoes and clothes I lust after. We can clearly see where they got their inspiration from when it comes to these leather studded clogs. The heel is obviously much thinner and the leather doesn’t have that worn-in look but I just think they’re astounding. The cognac leather looks wonderfully luxe and the arch is perfect. These are sure to make your legs look a mile long. They are also so affordable compared to the originals. I heart them!

Louboutin has his trademark red sole. Rubber-soled Prada kicks have the requisite red stripe. And in case you didn’t know, Camilla Skovgaard has her own little calling card: that deliciously edgy, jagged lug sole. These Saw Open Toe Mules are a stellar example of the Skovgaard aesthetic—refined and rugged, feminine but aggressive. I simply adore a Skovgaard shoe.

Jeffrey Campbell “Fang” Mules

You know how I wrote that I adore a Skovgaard shoe? It’s true. But despite my adoration, there is nary a pair in my closet. Because as lovely as they are, they are expensive. If you’re similarly challenged, allow me to introduce the “Fang” Mule by Jeffrey Campbell, King of the Replica. I think the photo says about everything there is to say, except this: now you can look like you’re rocking a Skov for less than $140.

Some shoes take time to grow on me; others I want immediately. The studded clogs from Chanel‘s S/S 2010 runway fell into the latter category. I don’t know if it’s the 60s-70s clothes kick I’ve been on recently or maybe just the fact that I love how nude shoes of all kinds elongate the leg (that 4 inch heel helps too!) but I prayed to the fashion Gods above that someone would come out with a knock-off (the Chanel shoes being out of my budget and all). Usually my prayers of that kind get answered – by the Steve Maddens and Jeffrey Campbells of the world – and I was not disappointed…

UPDATE (02/27/2010): Just learned that NORDSTROM now has the JC clogs in stock now for a budget-friendly $124.95 in black and tan. These are going to sell out quick, so order straight away.

I just received these Jeffrey Campbell “Charlie” clogs (I ordered them immediately after seeing them) and I have to tell you – they’re just as fabulous as I imagine Chanel’s to be. That scary 4 inch + heel is surprisingly comfortable to walk in and I just love their retro spirit. From the chunky wooden heel to the gold studs, these are truly an excellent knock-off. And for $178 (see retailers listed below for more prices), they’re really a steal. The clogs are available in either beige, black or tan.

I’m not a slides person by default because I need arch support in my shoes and really can’t stand it when my heels dangle in the air. However, when I first laid my eyes on these colorful cabachon slides by Miu Miu I couldn’t help but be in total awe. The embellishments are just too cute!

Carlos by Carlos Santana “Romantica” Sandals

These Carlos by Carlos Santana sandals may have a few differences (e.g. they’re not quite as colorful as the Miu Mius, made of suede + slingback version), but overall they are still a fantastic alternative if you are trying to save some cash. Available in black or red suede.

Nine West “Quincylla” Slides

Nine West also has a great look-a-like option. The gemstones are a bit dull and dark which I find a bit sad, but the shape is almost identical. Available in either black or tan (with turquoise stones).

If the above options didn’t cut it for you, maybe you’ll find yourself falling for these Miu Miu inspired ankle strap sandals by Vince Camuto. I really like the embellishments on these even though they could’ve been a bit more colorful like the originals. Available in black, dark brown and tan.
