Silver

For someone who has always loved the delicacy of high heels and feminine silhouettes when it comes to shoes, lately I’ve been finding myself strangely gravitating more and more to tougher, more masculine footwear for some reason. So much so that I recently decided to take the plunge and went on to buy my very first pair of black, Doc Martens-like lace-up combat boots a few weeks ago and I’ve been obsessed with them ever since! I wear them with black skinny jeans, ripped denim, a flowy knit dress, a cute A-line skirt, you name it; everything seems to kind of work with these boots that will toughen up any look in an instant with their rough and functional design. And if you’ve been following this blog for a while, you’ll know I have a soft spot for everything Alexander McQueen. So how could I not love these super badass silver studded metal cap-toe boots? They’re definitely not for the faint of heart and certainly won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but I guess this is one of the main reasons I find myself so drawn to them! These heavy boots look like they could easily be part of a funky steampunk cosplay costume. But in a good way! Now that we’ve established the fabulousness of these boots – have you seen that price tag? $1.995! One grand per foot! Sadly, this kind of pricing doesn’t exactly fall into my personal shoe shopping bracket.

Jeffrey Campbell “Gustine” Studded Cap-Toe Boots

Jeffrey Campbell to the rescue! Now look at these stud-adorned combat lace-up boots here! Aren’t they just so crazy cool? I love the oversized buckles! They’re not identical dupes of the McQueen boots above, but certainly similar enough to double as a great, look for less designer alternative if you can’t afford or simply don’t want to spend 2k on a pair of boots. These darling here might not be a steal at $179.95, but they are over 90% cheaper than the real deal which – I would say – you could consider a steal deal in comparison! Some sizes are already sold out though, so you better be fast if you want to get ahold of these stylish studded biker boots!

Real vs. Steal – Céline Knot Open Bracelet

by Irina on September 18, 2017

Update: This post has been updated on September 18, 2017. Scroll down to see the new add.

It’s been a while since we last featured a jewelry piece by Céline on this blog, so here you go: Céline’s knot bracelet which is available in various colors and sizes has made quite the round in the fashion blogosphere lately. The design strongly reminds me of Tiffany’s Love Knot Bangle with the biggest difference being that Céline’s version is left open in the back. I’m not sure what the retail price is for this bracelet, but pre-owned pieces start at approximately $400 which I think is quite the hefty price for a gold-plated brass bangle.

Real vs. Steal – Tiffany & Co. Love Knot Bangle

by Irina on September 18, 2016

Update: This post has been updated on September 18, 2016. Scroll down to see the new add.

After a quick summer hiatus, we are reporting back with another Real vs. Steal post! And this one’s featuring the very famous Love Knot Bangle by Tiffany & Co.. Personally, I absolutely adore the minimalistic design of this bangle and its symbolic meaning. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that this piece of jewelry is a particularly popular wedding gift. And while I couldn’t find an exact price for this online sold-out item, I would bet, even though this is “only” sterling silver, it still is everything but a cheap buy.

Real vs. Steal – Cartier Love Bracelet

by Irina on September 14, 2016

Update: This post has been updated on September 14, 2016. Scroll down to see the new add.

If you have an Instagram account, follow fashion bloggers or just love jewelry in general, then I’m sure you’re well aware of Cartier‘s famous “Love” bracelet. Designed by Aldo Cipullo in 1969, the bracelet quickly became popular for its intentional resemblance in function to medieval chastity belts because of its extraordinary locking mechanism. Unlike traditional bracelets, the “Love” bracelet is designed to be opened only by using a special screwdriver that is supplied with every bracelet. The screwdriver is also available in the form of a necklace, allowing the bracelet to be “locked” onto one person, while the “key” is kept around the neck of another, as a symbol for their commitment to their relationship. Luckily, the “Love” bracelet can be opened with any standard slotted screwdriver (just in case things don’t work out with your better half, I guess 😉). Although slightly confining, I think it’s a romantic gesture and a very beautiful sign of love, but most of all is it a very expensive one at $6.300 for the 18K yellow gold version. There’s definitely a lot of commitment neccessary for such a splurge purchase.

Make sure to use our exclusive promo code INTHEIRCLOSET to get 10% off your purchase at Minusey!

Now you can get the coveted Cartier look for a budget-friendly $24.95 (in either gold- or silvertone) and open it easily with a built-in clasp. No screwdrivers or credit card debt neccessary! Score!
