Everyone should own a perfectly tailored leather jacket. I think it’s a staple and will NEVER go out of style. So it’s worth making a small investment to make sure it will last you for several years, maybe even decades. I’m sure this Balmain quilted leather jacket would be still in style 10 years from now, but oh boy, 13k for a jacket? I know leather always comes at a price, but this is blatant usury.

HOT DEAL: Use coupon code “CELEB10” to receive 10% OFF your entire order!
This quilted leather jacket by Haute Hippie isn’t necessarily a Balmain twin, but the influences are clearly visible, don’t you agree? The jacket is quite pricey at almost $1000 retail price, but it’s still 13x cheaper than the original.

Another great alternative though not quite as close as the HH version is this quilted leather jacket by Bebe. I’m so digging this jacket, it’s ridiculous. And $259 for a real leather jacket isn’t a bad price. I even managed to find this $50 OFF coupon code for you which will take a significant chunk off the price. Yay!

Miu Miu bags are just awesome. I can’t recall that I’ve ever hated a Miu Miu bag. This quilted beauty in blush is the perfect medium-sized everyday bag. It will fit your wallet, keys, cellphone & the always needed beauty supplies. Just wish this bag wouldn’t be a) sold out and b) so pricey!

Big Buddha “London” Bag
Big Buddha‘s “London” Bag is an almost identical dupe of the Miu Miu bag with the major difference being the size as the Big Buddha version is a lot bigger than the Miu Miu shown on the celebs above. However, it’s still a great bag to carry around and it comes not only in nude as shown below but also in a luscious strawberry red or beautiful camel. Credit for this find goes out to J over at The Look 4 Less blog.

I jumped on the skinny cargo movement a couple months back, so you know I just adore Leighton Meester in this utilitarian look. I didn’t think skinny cargos could be flattering, but the more I see them on, the more I am proved wrong. Leighton’s look may be neutral, but it’s anything but boring. And the best part is it is so easy to recreate, as you can see below.

Are you one of those ladies who has lusted for the Marc Jacobs Quilted Stam Bag since the day it came out? I know I am. I just love Marc Jacobs bags—they have a look all their own, and since I am lucky enough to have a Venetia myself, I know they are extremely well-made. But unfortunately, when they first hit the shelves, they are so expensive. Sigh.

Vahni & Her American Chic Black Quilted Chain Bag

So listen up…as you can see from the photos above, we got our hands on a sick Stam lookalike! And we decided that it was time to take ITC reviews to the next level. So rather than just seeing photos of the American Chic Black Quilted Chain Bag, we shot some video so you can truly see how this bag translates in real life.
As I mentioned in the video, I was pleasantly surprised by how real this faux leather bag looks. And I am a very hard sell…honestly, when I first read the details about the bag, I wasn’t too excited about the fact that it’s not leather. But I’m totally sold! Seriously! I have actually carried this bag around and it looks incredible on.
So what else do you need to know about the American Chic Black Quilted Chain Bag? Well, despite the fact that the hardware is not brass, it’s still a nice goldtone, and has enough weight for it to look and feel good. Inside, the bag is cloth-lined, which is a big deal—nothing worse than a plasticky interior. It has a generous helping of pockets and zips and compartments to help keep your personal items organized.
Bottom Line
This is one of the best faux leather, designer-inspired bags I’ve seen in recent time. It is well-made, lovely to look at, roomy inside, and totally believable. I’m sure you’ll get your 50 bucks’ worth out of it, and then some.
PROS:
- Man-made “leather” totally looks like the real thing.
- Good quality. A stunning Stam-esque bag.
- Major price! Such a steal at under $50.
CONS:
- Metal clasp has slight discoloration, uneven tone.
- There were some loose threads in the quilting.

Back in 2007 Mary-Kate Olsen stepped out on the red carpet to see Antony Micallef’s “Impure Idols” LA show debut and I was madly in love with her head-to-toe getup: the quilted leather jacket, the tousled out-of-bed hair and of course her black Balenciaga gladiator wedges. This is rocker meets uptown chic at its best. See my budget-friendly take on MK’s outfit below.
