So isn’t it quite obvious why I chose these DV by Dolce Vita patent-leather platform pumps as today’s Heel of the Day? Because they look so darn good! And because they remind me of Brian Atwood’s super coveted “Maniac” pump and the pink patent version with the gold bow on the vamp gives off an Alexander McQueen vibe. Also on the plus side: they’re real leather and cost a little under $100 (less if you make use of the promo code above) which is quite a helper when you’re a shoe fanatic on a budget. What do you think?

Christian Louboutin is the mastermind behind the designer footwear aesthetic. Often considered to be one of the most well known designers, his designs are truly never lackluster and always exude luxury. Capturing our attention a few months ago were the Pigalle Plato Pumps, and now these Pigalle 120 Patent-Leather Pumps do just the same. This papaya-pink color featured below is simply amazing with the addition of a pointed toe. Before, I never really appreciated any pointy toe shoes, however these pumps have sincerely changed my perspective. Priced at $625, I, for one will not be purchasing these any time soon. Conversely, take a look at more affordable versions of these pumps below!

Devious Sexy-20 Stiletto Pumps

Out of all the featured look-a-likes, this one by Devious appears to be the most significant because it very closely resembles the Louboutins. The patent shine, color, and super elongated heel are perfectly intact and maintain that Louboutin-esque look. With this type of shoe, it’s very difficult to go wrong especially when it radiates such a bold energy. Ultimately, these can be worn as a transition to summer and even in the winter for a nice pop of color.

Topshop “GAME” Pointed Court Shoes

Topshop is definitely one of my favorite stores due to their eclectic wardrobe varieties. Not to mention, these “Game” Pointed Court Shoes are absolutely beautiful. Though these are a bit pricier than the other alternatives above, I believe that they will become a permanent staple in one’s closet. They complement any outfit, and provide that extra vitality to spice up a dull look. I would love to pair them with perfectly tailored pants, but the wardrobe possibilities are simply superfluous.

Colorblocking is on the rise again with these multiple toned Christian Louboutin Lady Peep Platforms. Sold out at $945, these beauties serve as a perfect transition piece and can be worn almost all year round, especially in warmer regions. The featured colors are so mundane; however they are incorporated in a bold manner. The subtle beauty exhibited from these pumps resonates with the audience, but the unjustifiable price tag is a major drawback, hence, the amazing alternative below!

Sergio Zelcer “Weck” Open-Toe Slingback Pumps

Sergio Zelcer is leaving quite the impression on me with his version of the colorblocked pump. Ultimately, his version is not only budget-friendly but it is just as beautiful as the Louboutins pictured above. These “Weck” slingbacks also have a deep red sole if you truly want to immerse yourself in the classic Louboutin look. Overall, you get the designer signature style without spending part of your life savings account.

UPDATE: This post has been updated on May 7, 2012. Scroll down to see the new add.

I’m completely fascinated by Christian Louboutin‘s mind. I’m starting to understand him… I think. This red calf hair pump named Big Lips, believe it or not, I get why he named it this. Just look at it. Does it not remind you of a mouth completely lacquered in red lipstick? Oh well, great minds think alike! ;-) Too bad not all wallets are created equal. Because at $995 this very kissable little heel has been snatched up by all those big lip bandits out there!

I used to associate cap-toe shoes with old ladies and always found them to be aging. However, lately I’ve seen quite a few outstanding examples which I wouldn’t mind wearing myself. Case in point: these simple black pointed pumps with a gold cap-toe by Yves Saint Laurent. That’s sophistication and elegance unified! It’s quite the understated shoe with just the right amount of extravagance! And a hefty price tag, of course! It is YSL after all.
