So I know I blogged about Yves Saint Laurent‘s Palais pumps before, but the yellow version is just so lovely I had to dedicate them a post on their own. I remember first seeing them in yellow on The Shoegirl’s blog who called them her banana shoes (haha, so true! ;) ). I have yet to purchase my first pair of yellow shoes… do you own yellow shoes? I’d love to make these YSLs mine, but a) they’re so sold out by now and b) even if they weren’t, they’d be way out of my regular shoe shopping budget, so off I was to search for a more wallet-friendly alternative…

Kelsi Dagger “Abrielle” Platform Pumps

UPDATE (11/17/2011): These Kelsi Dagger pumps are probably one of the most blatant knockoffs I’ve ever come across, but I kind of love them. Why? Because they’re way more accessible at $79.99 than at $700+. Available in yellow, orange, green, blue and black suede as well as black patent.

Promise “Lego” Platform Pumps

As with the blue Palais version, Promise once again comes to a broke fashionista’s rescue. But at that time no one had this knockoff in yellow which changed recently when I spied these YSL look-a-likes at Heels.com. Yes, it’s more of a mustard color than a true sunshiney yellow, but at $54.99 I won’t be the one to complain. Also available in black or fuchsia faux suede.

This glamoruous heel by Christian Louboutin is called “Very Mix”. Can I just say I desperately would love to be in the mix and mingle in these babies! But at almost $4.000 – just not going to happen. Dammit, why do the rich chicks get to have all the fun? Thank God, Jehovah, Allah, Buddha (very p.c. around here) for knockoffs. Now we all can get into the mix with the Loubi look-a-like below. ;-)

Ask and you shall receive! “Manchi” by Promise has totally delivered with this studded platform. OK, so not as encrusted with crystals as the Louboutin, but the spikes will do. And hey, for $60 you get these other colors as well: gold and black/bronze.

I must admit the first time I saw the “Palais” pumps by Yves Saint Laurent I didn’t like them very much. While I was madly in love with the vibrant blue suede, what I didn’t like was the carved heel and the exaggerated round toe. But as I previously said, sometimes you have to see a shoe on a person to truly recognize its beauty. And this was the case when I spotted the lovely Carey Mulligan wearing these iconic YSL pumps. From this moment on I was a reformed “Palais” lover.

Now I can love YSL shoes as much as I want, I still don’t have the $$$ to splurge on them. So what’s the next best thing? These YSL look-a-likes by Promise, of course. Sure, they’re not as delicate as the originals and lack a few details, but they’ll definitely give you the YSL look and all for just $30. Available in blue, black and pink faux suede.

Dare To Wear – Neon Pink Shoes

by Irina on April 9, 2011

This spring we are celebrating the return of color! Well, Spring fashion is always pretty colorful, but this year I feel like designers have come to really appreciate all those beautiful vibrant colors like acid pink, lime green or cobalt blue. Especially in the footwear department. I’ve seen so many new colorful spring styles lately, it’s amazing. Neon pink seems to be one of the most used, trending colors for shoes now. Below you can see some of my top picks. Which leads me to my question: would you wear hot pink shoes? I admit it’s not for the faint of heart, but if worn with black/white/neutrals and accessorized with other neon accessories (in moderation, of course, e.g. a pink watch or matching pink lip maybe), I think it would make a really great statement look. But what do you think?

First off, a Happy New Year to all our lovely readers! We hope you’ve come to spend a fabulous New Year’s Eve. Alright, but now let’s get back to business. Shoe business. Despite the rather simple design of the Christian Louboutin platform espadrilles pictured below I still find myself to be quite enamored with these summer beauties. Funnily enough, these also happen to be on the lower price spectrum of a Louboutin (most Loubies start to retail at $795+), but even the rather “modest” price of $535 I simply cannot justify with my current budget. Well, a girl can dream…

Clearly these Coconuts by Matisse espadrille wedges are not as high as the Louboutins, but if you can look past this and the fact that they lack the superior quality of high-priced designer shoes, you’ll find an almost identical Loubie look-a-like with these. Avaiable in brown or black.
