New Look

A simple summertime wedge is sometimes all a girl needs to be happy. Now what’s shocking is that this simple wedge is by Christian Louboutin – the Liberace of shoemakers! No crazy 7 inch wedge. No crazy accouterments. Just a nice pinkish/mauve patent leather shoe. If only one could “simply” find $595 to pay for this much simplicity. But oh well, how do the French say – c’est la vie!

Steve Madden “WISSPER” Slingback Wedge Sandals

Now let me introduce you to the Robin Hood of the shoe world, Mr. Steve Madden. Bringing (and copying) designer heels for less and giving them to the poor (yet oh-so-fab) people! Once again, he doesn’t disappoint with his “WISSPER” slingback wedge. The only truly detectable difference is the thicker slingback strap and buckle. Other than that, for $29.99 (sale price!) this is a great steal. Available in black, teal, fuchsia and white patent as well as black suede, natural linen, navy fabric and leopard.

I usually don’t like publishing 2 consequent posts about the same brand, but in the case of Brian Atwood I think I can make an exception. His rise to fame started somewhen last year with the “Maniac” platform pump which was one of the first 5″ heels to conquer the red carpet & every female celebrity’s heart. Nude pumps were starting to make the round back then and Brian Atwood’s version was especially appealing with its hidden platform, the high arch and delicious taupe color. Despite their hefty price tag of more than $600, it didn’t take long until these were completely sold out.

Ever since I discovered Brian Atwood’s Maniac pumps I was hoping and waiting for a good copy to come along. Surprisingly, it took longer than expected, but we finally have a Maniac doppelgänger courtesy of Steve Madden. Madden’s version isn’t quite as high and the color is not a perfect match, but at that price I’m not complaining. Available in 9 different colors and finishes: black, blush, fuchsia, lavender, nude, teal and wine patent as well as black and plum suede.

So this is the first time we feature Kate Middleton aka Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, here on ITC. And while I know we’re super late to catch up on the whole Royal Kate hysteria it’s kind of amazing to finally have a member of the Royal Family with such an impeccable style! I just took a look at Kate’s recent outfits and I must say I’m quite impressed; girl sure knows how to dress her tiny body. Take her outfit to meet the Obamas for example. I love that she chose to wear a £175 REISS frock. Which, of course, sold out only a few hours after pictures of Kate wearing it popped up on the internet. However, we came across a pretty nice and cheap alternative to Kate’s “Shola” dress, so let us know what you think of our look 4 less take on Kate’s look.

When I wrote about Selena Gomez wearing an ASOS dress to the GRAMMY Nominations Concert back in December many of you seem to have found interest in Selena’s dress which is now long gone & totally sold out. And since I still get a lot of requests and traffic on this specific Selena look I decided to recreate her head-to-toe look on a budget look basis. I found a great and budget-friendly dress alternative coming from New Look, a UK fast fashion chain. They have very decent worldwode shipping fees (shipping to the US comes in at £7.50 which equals ~$12), so I decided to include it. And I also came across these fab Zanotti chiffon bow look-a-likes, but you have to be fast to snag a pair at LuLu*s because sizes keep selling out there.

You know what bugs me big time? When I do my daily shoe research and start seeing shoes from different brands which have all the same design or concept. Almost always a sign that these are “inspired by“-shoes. Most of the time I am able to tell by whom these steal versions were inspired, but not this time. I stumbled upon 4 wedge styles, all different brands but with the same design and I just couldn’t tell the designer inspiration to these knockoffs. It was so frustrating! But life is fair – sometimes at least. Because yesterday I accidentally browsed the shoe section at theOutnet and voilà, there I spied them: the “Amaya” wedges by Paloma Barceló. Finally, the mystery was solved! No wonder I couldn’t tell the designer because up until yesterday I have never heard of Paloma Barceló. So I decided to educate myself and looked up the brand. Turns out it’s a Spanish footwear line founded in 1960 specializing in mostly espadrille styles. Check out the various designs at NET-A-PORTERls and LUISAVIAROMAcj, so stunning, perfect summer shoes!

MIA “Biscotti” Wedge Sandals

Now how good is this knockoff by MIA? Spot on! You can’t barely tell the difference (of course I cannot comment on the quality aspect here). And they happen to be on sale as well! Yay! These come in tan, brown and olive.

Naughty Monkey “Divine” Wedge Sandals

These espadrille wedges by Naughty Monkey fall into the same “can’t tell them apart“-category as the MIAs. They’re virtually identical to the Paloma Barceló originals. A little more expensive than the MIA version, but these here come in other colors including a super lovely teal which I adore. Down from $95 to $79.99. Available in black, brown, grey, raspberry & teal.

New Look Straw Strappy Wedges

Now what’s funny is that I purchased these very wedges by New Look prior to knowing that these were actually knockoffs. For me they are keepers. Quality is OK (not real leather, but not expecting much at this price). These look great with capris, shorts and all kinds of summer dresses, of course. Available in black, white and tan.

Wanted “Notti” Wedge Sandals

These Wanted wedges are not quite spot-on as the ones listed above, but overall there’s still something like an 80% similarity with the key details all there. Also, these here come in the cutest colors such as yellow, baby blue, orange & pink (+ boring black and tan).
