Chanel‘s Spring 2010 collection – it makes me want to yodel. I’m pretty sure that wasn’t the reaction they were looking for, but really they’re only 2 braids short of Heidi and I don’t mean Montag. Though this look might not be for everyone, I do know many who are head over heels for clogs, so if you want to go authentic with them – here’s your inspiration updated with some feminine florals.

I just adore a studded shoe. Well, truth be told, I’m loving a studded anything right about now. Thankfully there are more options this century than there were in the last one—we’ve moved beyond Bedazzler hideousness and full-on rocker paraphernalia. This lovely Prada sandal is a fab example of studs done right. There’s a hint of rebellion, but also a sort of 40s sensibility in the shape and structure of this shoe.

N.Y.L.A. “Naigel” Studded Platform Sandals
Yes, it’s true: celebrities (and even us mere mortals) love Prada. But the thought of stepping in a puddle or a crack while wearing a $636 suede-covered heel? Uh, I know that’s an idea I don’t love. If you’re of the same ilk, allow me to introduce “Naigel” by N.Y.L.A.. Now you can have all the studded, criss-crossed moxie of the Prada version, in a more resilient and less-expensive leather pair.

Don’t get me wrong: I LOVE ankle boots and all, but over the last 2 years or so I’ve become kind of sick seeing them worn with everything. Especially on the red carpet where young starlets seem to think it’s so super cool and edgy to pair chunky booties with a white frilly lace dress. Yeah, no one’s done THAT before, try-hard. Most of those girls fail when it comes to carrying off such a contrasting look.
That’s why I really appreciate when shoe designers take a different direction with the ankle bootie trend and make them look less bulky and less in-your-face. The Jimmy Choos below are a perfect example for such booties. They’re modern yet subtle, but still feminine.

Liliana “Bandino” Studded Ankle Booties
These booties by Liliana are quite obviously a knockoff of the Jimmy Choos shown above. Don’t they look pretty awesome for $50 shoes? I think I even prefer these over the real Choos because of their rounder shape. Let alone the fact that of course I very much prefer their price which is way closer to my budget than the Choos. Another good thing: these booties also come in grey and purple (faux) suede.

Luichiny “Passa Fy” Booties
While these studded booties by Luichiny might not be as close to the originals as the Liliana ones, I think it’s still very easy to see the inspiration behind these. Peep-toe booties are a favorite of mine but I know it took a while for most people to fully embrace them. Intellectually I know they make no practical sense, but I can’t help it – I find them disarmingly sexy. Well, combine that peep-toe bootie with a zipper and you’ve got yourself what is possibly the trendiest shoe of the moment. Alexander Wang‘s Freja Open Toe Laced Zip Booties (say that three times fast) have been so incredibly popular that they sold out immediately on NET-A-PORTER. They are still available on Shopbop, but at such a high price I’m not surprised by the influx of mail we’ve received asking us to locate a suitable knockoff.

ASOS “TURNER” Suede Lace-Up Peep-toe Shoes
Now readers, I know these aren’t an exact copy of the Alexander Wangs (I fear we’ll most likely have to wait a few months for those to start flooding the scene – but when they do, be sure we’ll feature them here!), but it’s quite clear to us where ASOS gleaned their inspiration from. With the flap, high heel and peep-toe you’ll be getting the same general sexy feel as the Alexander Wang booties but without the hefty price tag.

Dorothy Perkins Zip Buckle Ankle Boots
Now if what you really loved about the originals was that amazing zipper detailing, then maybe these Dorothy Perkins‘ Zip Buckle Ankle boots are for you. The flap is still there with the aforementioned zippering, as is the peep-toe, but they’ve also added buckles, another huge trend for 2010. While these are a little bit of a stretch from Alexander Wang’s Frejas, these are definitely my favorite knockoff. I’m a sucker for hardware and I love how they cut the front peep-toe part of the shoe a little wider than normal – certainly vaguely reminiscent of the Wangs. If you can’t wait for an exact knockoff of the Freja booties to emerge, why not give these a try?

I never paid much attention to Prada shoes because they never seemed to be that noteworthy. For me, it was all about Miu Miu, Miuccia Prada’s younger contemporary line which seemed to always outshine her bigger sister in the footwear department – that was until now. I recently discovered some really neat Prada heels which I instantly loved. Take these studded platform slingbacks for example. I love the chunkiness of the platform & heel!

If you like the Prada slingbacks, but can’t afford spending so much on shoes, Steve Madden has a great and almost identical knockoff version of the studded Pradas. Hmmmm, I think I’m going to order a pair of these for myself.

I discovered Ash only last December when I was looking for the perfect knockoff of a pair of Martin Margiela sandals that I had been in love with for the better part of a year. Aptly enough, it was InTheirCloset that eventually led me to the Holy Land, so to speak. Ash shoes are really well made and definitely have a strong point of view. I love these “Lovely” Studded Wedge Sandals, for instance. I will say that they look more fall than summer to me, but there are already so many little outfits dancing in my head at the mere thought of owning these. The rich black is hot, as is the harness and studding. Here’s the thing, though: while Ash shoes are priced rather “reasonably”, they are still out of my sad little budget.

If you, too, have a mopey little budget, but love the look of the Ash wedge sandals, we may have found just the shoe. These “Placido” wedges by N.Y.L.A. look basically identical to the originals with a slightly less exaggerated heel. I’m fairly certain that once on no one would be able to tell the difference. You got the memo, didn’t you? What memo, you ask? The wedge memo, silly. The one about wedges being totally it this summer. And hallelujah for that. This is a trend that might actually give all us poor, virtually hobbled fashionistas a little bit of a break in the no-pain-no-gain shoe department. The beauty of the wedge is its wearability in spite of its height. Which makes a pair like the Liana from Rock & Republic all the more appealing.

OK, so you want a wedge. And as lovely as Liana is, we all know you’re here because you don’t want the higher-priced version, you want more for less! Honey, don’t we all. There’s not a Liana doppelganger out there at the moment, but we did find the studded, riveted “Dina” by N.Y.L.A.. And $109.95 isn’t cheap, but it’s better than $350 for a shoe you know is relegated to weekend outfits.

It’s been about a year but I am now fully committed to the open-toe bootie look. I think it’s the versatility that gets me – they look equally as great with a skirt or dress as they do with pants. These Sergio Rossi Dakota booties are the perfect new addition to the trend. The basket-weave and pale wooden heel scream spring (get here, already!) but the dark leather glides you effortlessly into fall. I think these hot booties would look awesome with bare legs but also beautiful with colored tights. Unfortunately with a hefty price tag of $366 (sale price!) those outfit ideas are merely a day-dream.
