Don’t get me wrong: I loooooove high heels with utmost passion, but when summer is blazing its heatwaves upon us, the last thing I would think of wearing are high heeled shoes. A good flat sandal that you can easily slide in and out of and walk in for hours is absolutely essential in the summer; especially if you’re planning to go on vacation. Flip flops would be an obvious choice here, but aren’t we so over them by now? That’s why I am absolutely smitten with these backless knotted sandal leather slides by Joie. I love their minimalistic yet chic design (made in Italy, btw) and the supple cowhide leather; these would go with almost anything in my wardrobe. And while they’re not terribly expensive at $125, we understand that many of you are on a budget, so we made it our mission to find some great alternative options for much less. Just keep on reading.

If Schutz hasn’t been on your radar yet, I think these sultry-looking caged heels named “Juliana” are about to change that in a second. But let’s get the facts first: Schutz is a Brasil based footwear brand which has been around for 20 years now, but has only gained significant momentum in the last 3-4 years. Schutz’ success partly stems from the influx of fashion bloggers and famous Instagrammers wearing their shoes and “Juliana” seems to have been an especially popular shoe style of theirs (see picture collage below). You can often find designer-inspired styles in Schutz’ collections, but they always manage to infuse those inspired styles with the brand’s own unique aesthetic. I’m not sure whether “Juliana” is a designer-inspired style (if so, I couldn’t tell), but I absolutely adore it anyway! It’s such a sexy and flattering high heel and I just love the spider web-like, diamond-shaped cut-out design. Total shoe hotness! And while $190 isn’t a terribly expensive price for shoes (if you compare it to those of designer shoes, of course), there’s still room to save here, I think!

These beauties come in 10 different colors, my personal faves being the yellow, aqua blue and red. Make sure to also check out the “Viperls” (kitten heel version of “Slithur”, $109.95) and “Slithr-rls” (the rhinestoned version, $129.95).

Public Desire “Satine” Caged Heels

And lastly, another steal-worthy Schutz alternative which I have come across at UK footwear e-shop Public Desire. Their “Juliana” inspired version “Satine” isn’t quite as detailed and delicate as the real deal, but overall it’s the same look and a great look for less option, because these heels here are currently on sale for less than £20. “Satine” comes in 4 lovely colors: black, fuchsia, aqua blue and white faux suede. Worldwide shipping is available, by the way. Total steal deal alert, everyone!

If I had to describe my person fashion style in three words, “feminine” would definitely be among it. That’s probably one of the reason why I’ve never been particularly fond of the classic combat boot à la Doc Martens. However, lately I have discovered so many beautiful combat boot styles with feminine details such as velvet uppers, floral prints or lovely pastel colorways that it made me rethink my stance on combat boots being too bulky and masculine (for me). What do you think? Can combat boots be feminine or not? And if so, which of the three versions below is your favorite? The Velvet, floral print or pink one? Take the poll down below and let us know.
