ModCloth

Looking at all the popular style blogs nowadays makes me realize that a lot of them lack color and feminity which I find rather sad because I value both in terms of how I define my own style. What happened to flirty dresses in vibrant, fun colors? I’m not talking going all vintage vixen, but it seems a lot of girls aim for the “cool laid-back”-style by opting for baggy, oversized clothing in something between gray to black. I might have no right to critize other people’s personal taste, but c’mon mix things up a little! I don’t want get a depression from checking your blog. Apropos, can you imagine getting depressed by these feminine ModCloth dresses? I don’t think so. Just looking at them makes me happy. And they come in all those pretty, vibrant colors (including your standard boring black). I want!

Fab Friday 5 – Irina Edition

by Irina on July 16, 2010

TGIF! The InTheirCloset team wants to wish you a happy, happy Friday hopefully to be followed by an equally wonderful and relaxed weekend. Fab Friday 5 will be a new weekly feature where the ITC team members will highlight their favorite 5 things from last week. This week’s my turn. I hope you will enjoy my finds and obsessions.

Fab Friday 5 - Irina Edition #001

The Breakdown:

  1. ModCloth No Predica-mint Beltcj, $34.99 – I’m currently obsessed with the color mint and have already done a post on my Mint Must-Haves. If I had known about this mint studded belt when I first wrote the post you bet I would’ve included it.
  2. McDonald’s Hot Caramel Sundae, $1 – OK, this is totally unrelated to fashion, but can I just say how much I LOOOVE the hot caramel sundae from McDonald’s? It’s cheap, delicious and your hands are always sticky no matter how much you try not to mess with your ice cream. Perfect summer treat!
  3. ASOS Hinged Metal Armour Ringls, $16.85 – Ever since Vahni showed off her kickass BCBG hinged ring I’ve been on what seems an endless hunt for statement finger jewelry. My ultimate Holy Grail of hinged rings would have to be the Vivienne Westwood Armour Ring and I’m already saving up for this $260 obsession (helloooooo birthday present!), but for now this ASOS ring will do.
  4. Zoya Nail Polish in “Charla”eBay, $5-7 – Nail polish is one of my new found passions and I’ve managed to accumulate quite a nice collection over the last few months. Zoya’s mermaid turquoise “Charla” glitter nail polish from the Sparkle collection is probably the prettiest color I’ve seen this summer. You think it looks awesome in the bottle? Then check out how AHHHHH-MAZ-ING it looks on the nails at All Lacquered Up. Absolutely gorgeous!
  5. ASOS HARBOUR Striped Wedgesls, $37.06 – OK, you didn’t really think a shoemaniac like me could end a favorites list WITHOUT mentioning at least one pair of shoes, did you? I’m so in love with these summery striped wedges by ASOS. In fact, they were one of the reasons I couldn’t go shopping-free this month as I originally planned to. But how is one supposed to resist a 40% reduction? D’uh!

Mint Must-Haves

by Irina on July 9, 2010

It’s unbelievably hot & sunny here in Germany right now which of course is a good thing unless you have to work in that windless summer heat. That’s why I do everything I can to stay cool & hydrated by taking cold showers every couple hours and drinking lots of cold peppermint tea which led me to the idea to do a feature on the color mint since it’s such a great shade for the summer. Check out my mint must-haves to stay cool in the heat:

I don’t know that I would advocate purchasing a huge neon green bag but a small brightly colored purse is something I can definitely get behind. You may initially shy away from wearing a turquoise or hot pink handbag, but trust me when I say that it will quickly become almost like a neutral in your closet. There to jazz up any subdued outfit or pair of jeans. I love Marc Jacobs‘ The Single Quilted bag for this purpose because it comes in super fun colors but in a very classic shape. I particularly like the hot pink color (as seen on Whitney Port below) but the purple would also be great. Now, I’ll be right here when you feel like buying me an early birthday present.

ModCloth Love is a Bag-lefield Bag

ModCloth‘s Love is a Bag-lefield bag (don’t they come up with the cutest names?) is what we’re calling an MJ meets Chanel love-child. The shape of the bag and the studs is fairly identical to Whitney’s MJ above, but the chain/leather strap is very Chanel-esque. I love this bag. For $43.99 I kinda feel like everyone should pick one up. The hot pink works especially well during summer months and I say splurge on a great black bag; skimp on the brightly colored, fun one!

UPDATE: This post has been updated on April 14, 2010. Scroll down to see the new add.

The Anthropologie “Walk-A-Ways” dress has been a huge hit ever since Jillian Harris (aka The Bachelorette) wore it on Regis and Kelly last summer. At a fairly reasonable price of $128, the dress flew off the shelves and all color combinations sold out rather quickly. It really is the perfect flirty spring (and summer) dress and in the months following Jillian’s appearance we saw several retailers offer similar, if not exact copies, of the “Walk-A-Ways.” We love the striped top (so in right now) with the fun, contrasting skirt and finally found a copy worthy of posting here!

We really love this knock-off by LuLu*s. The oatmeal and navy striped scoop-neck top is so flattering, as is the cinched waist with detachable cloth belt, and the green of the skirt is rich and expensive looking. At only $34 (that’s $94 less than the original!) this is a truly excellent buy that will help you to welcome spring in style.
