Miss Me

For the last couple weeks I’ve had quite the passionate love affair with Givenchy. It really hit me out of nowhere because I remember being totally underwhelmed by the S/S 2010 collection first, but now I’m starting to warm up to the collection (minus the conehead hats, they’re still a big no). The footwear range of this collection was bold; Riccardo Tisci’s ultra-high chunky platform wedges certainly weren’t for the faint of heart. And while they’re not something I’m seeing myself rocking anytime soon, I still admire them for what they are: pieces of wearable art that is.

Jeffrey Campbell “Dipper” Open-Toe Booties

Come on, you didn’t really think Jeffrey Campbell would miss the chance to come up with their own Givenchys for the masses, did you? Say hi to the “Dipper”.

Joe’s Jeans “Lilly” Wedge Booties

Did you know Joe’s Jeans does footwear besides… jeans? Well, now you know and apparently they like getting inspired by high fashion brands as you can clearly see their “Lilly” wedge booties have quite a few Givenchy references. They basically just rounded the edges and called it a shoe. Also, do you happen to notice the almost twin-like similarities between the JC “Dippers” and these “Lilly” booties? Makes me wonder if they’re just a rebranded version of the JCs but with a higher price tag?!

Trouve “Trina” Wedge Sandals

Another great alternative to the real Givenchys are these budget-friendly wedges by Trouve. They’ve been tamed in terms of look and are not as extreme as the Givenchys, but this makes them a lot more wear- and manageable. Available in black or nude.

ALDO “Gersten” Sandal Bootie Wedges

Finally, let me present ALDO‘s take on the Givenchy wedges to you. The “Gersten”. The streamlined look and the lower platform makes this shoe probably the most wearable Givenchy knockoff out of the 4 and it’s also the cheapest Givenchy look-a-like at $100.

A trend refusing to die down is the ever-so-popular “rock chic“. Anything black, studded, buckled or wired fits perfectly into this category. Like these studded caged heels by Emilio Pucci for example. They might seem a little plain on their own, but look how amazing they look on Diane Kruger who paired them with a sexy white Hervé Léger number. Yummy!

Promise “Rockstar” Rhinestone Heels

If you’re not in a rockband and plan to wear these statement heels out every day, but still crave some Rock ‘n Roll on your feet, why not consider these budget-friendly heels by Promise? Apart from the price tag they’re practically twins. One major difference is that these are rhinestoned and not studded, but who doesn’t love a bit of bling? Available in a plethora of colors including black, gold, silver, white, yellow and fuchsia.

I’ve been a huge fan of Brian Atwood for a few years and now that SJP flaunted her lilac Locas in the newest Sex and the City installment, it seems like everyone and their mother does love his shoes as well. Brian really stepped up his shoe game lately and these studded platform pumps with clear panel are absolutely hot! I love the contrast between the feminine lilac color and the kickass sky-high heel and gold studs. Too bad they’re way out of my budget at $800 a pair.

Hypnotic “Parker” Studded Pumps

These Hypnotic “Parker” pumps are a dead ringer for the Brian Atwood Locas. They come in 5 colors including taupe which is the closest to the original lilac, black, grey, red & blue faux suede. The black and grey version popped up on Shiekh Shoes today and you better head over and place your order immediately as these have sold out within hours at a few other retailers already. I couldn’t even write a quick post before they were all gone, so I held back until I saw a fresh restock and well, here you have ’em. They’re quite cheap at only $49.97. Now don’t waste your time reading here and grab ’em quickly!

So you hate looking like one of the crowd. For avant garde shoes, clothing, and accessories, look no further than Elizabeth and James — the quirky, lower-end line launched by wondertwins Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen. The Cal Wedges below are a great example of the type of shoe you can expect from this label: functional, but kind of like a wearable piece of abstract art.

Rosegold “Shawna” Wedge Booties

Yes, I did write “lower-end” when I referred to the $354 Elizabeth and James wedges above, and technically they are; the Olsens have another line, The Row, which has significantly higher price points. So how lucky are we that Rosegold has its own even lower-end version of the Cal: “Shawna” Wedge Booties. They’re are a great investment for Spring 2010, because they incorporate two trends from the shows in one statement-making sandal: neutrals like beige and drab olive, and the arty wedge. Available in beige and black.

Off the runways and straight to my feet! Dear Santa, please? That’s right, I want these beautiful Balenciaga gladiator sandals in my stocking. I think these will have to be put on a secret Santa’s list because at $1.245, I would need to write an “haute” check! 😉

Miss Me Dazzle-35 Sandals

Well talk about checks & balances – Miss Me has dazzled me with their version of the Balanciaga sandal. Not to mention, they made it in an array of colors: black, nude (nice!) and red patent. And at $49.95, no need to bounce any checks; save the bouncing for the kiddies on Santa’s lap.
