I’ve been really loving Prada shoes as of late. Their footwear range for Spring and Fall 2009 was truly exceptional and just when I was starting to understand the appeal of Prada I was beyond disappointed to see lucite shoes return from fashion hell onto Prada’s Spring 2010 runway. Damn you, Miuccia Prada! I’m on a fashion rollercoaster with your fashion house. I do appreciate these studded t-strap sandals however also known as Ashley Olsen‘s studded obsession.

Michael Antonio “Tiff” T-Strap Sandals

If you can’t afford the real deal, Michael Antonio has an amazingly identical alternative for a lot, lot less. His t-strap sandals look just like the studded Prada heels except these come without the steep designer price. Available in either black, red or purple.

I’m usually not too much into 70′s style shoes, but leave it to one of my favorite designers, Giuseppe Zanotti, to make me fall in love with wooden clog sandals. Despite their chunkiness I still think these here look lovely and feminine and I can see these working with my entire summer wardrobe. Too bad that my budget totally vetos against a pair of $750 summer shoes though.

So these Michael Antonio platforms aren’t exactly dupes, but they sure give off the same Giuseppe Zanotti vibe, don’t they? Also, they come in so many fun colors like fuchsia, turquoise, yellow, white, tan and black and the price is not too bad either.

If the devil wears Prada I don’t want to go to heaven… now that says a lot about my priorities, doesn’t it? But seriously, Miuccia Prada is a designing genius. I might not approve of every collection, but she’s constantly exploring new ways of creating something unique; she’s so inspiring and always pushes the limits of what we consider to be aesthetic; her shows are often puzzling but not alienating and that’s what I love about fashion, that’s what turns fashion into art. Now these platform heels might not be the most unique Prada design but they’re super fabulous nonetheless. Classic and clear. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any info on these, not even a stock picture, I just know these are Prada and almost nowhere to get (Saks has a very similar black patent version without an ankle strap for $720).

UPDATE (05/26/2011): Look what I just came across! A lovely Prada alternative coming from ASOS. It’s not patent and only available in tan right now, but these would make great nude pumps for dark skinned girls.

So yeah, being a Prada lover doesn’t mean being a Prada buyer. I happened to stumble upon these ankle strap pumps by Michael Antonio which are quite similar to Prada’s version and retail for just $65. I love the color selection, from the classic black to the statement red patent version. What do you think?

I love when unexpected things come together. For example seeing nude being combined with silver. Who would’ve thought this color combo would as great as here on these Michael Antonio heels? I’m not too fond of the rounded ice cone heel (looks cheap and makes the shoe unstable), but at a steal price of only $70 I won’t be complaining. Also available in other color combinations.

OK, you know I love me some sky-high heels, but seriously, these platform wedges by Michael Antonio Studio take the cake. OMGWTF? Just look at this insane arch! It’ll bend your foot almost vertically. These heels are definitely not for the faint of heart. And even regular heel-wearers will probably have some serious trouble teetering around in these babies, so wear with caution and make sure to carry a pair of flats in your bag. Despite their crazy heel height, I still find myself strangely attracted to them. ♥
