So I know I blogged about Yves Saint Laurent‘s Palais pumps before, but the yellow version is just so lovely I had to dedicate them a post on their own. I remember first seeing them in yellow on The Shoegirl’s blog who called them her banana shoes (haha, so true! ;) ). I have yet to purchase my first pair of yellow shoes… do you own yellow shoes? I’d love to make these YSLs mine, but a) they’re so sold out by now and b) even if they weren’t, they’d be way out of my regular shoe shopping budget, so off I was to search for a more wallet-friendly alternative…

Promise “Lego” Platform Pumps

As with the blue Palais version, Promise once again comes to a broke fashionista’s rescue. But at that time no one had this knockoff in yellow which changed recently when I spied these YSL look-a-likes at Heels.com. Yes, it’s more of a mustard color than a true sunshiney yellow, but at $54.99 I won’t be the one to complain. Also available in black or fuchsia faux suede.

These shoes aren’t meant for long walks, but rather, to be candy for the feet. Slick and feminine, these heels by Jimmy Choo are definitely built for style. So let me be honest with you. At first, I kind of hated Christian Louboutin‘s Daffodile pumps. They looked too stripperish, too high, just totally OTT. However, the more I saw these extreme platform pumps being flaunted by celebs on and off the red carpet the more I started to like them. Not sure what changed my mind about these… maybe the extra few inches gained by wearing these sky-high beauties? I’m not sure, but I do know that I certainly don’t like the $995 price tag attached to these designer heels.

I must admit the first time I saw the “Palais” pumps by Yves Saint Laurent I didn’t like them very much. While I was madly in love with the vibrant blue suede, what I didn’t like was the carved heel and the exaggerated round toe. But as I previously said, sometimes you have to see a shoe on a person to truly recognize its beauty. And this was the case when I spotted the lovely Carey Mulligan wearing these iconic YSL pumps. From this moment on I was a reformed “Palais” lover.
