Jeffrey Campbell

Extreme platform wedges seem to be quite the new must-have item among style bloggers these days. First, there were the Acne “Atacomas” and now everyone is going gaga over the leopard print peep-toe wedges by Ashish for Topshop. My personal opinion is twisted. I like the shape and the crazy high platform wedge, but I’ve never been a fan of animal print, so I’ll pass. If you’re a quirky person and can handle the attention you’ll get from strangers with these on, you’re welcome to buy since Topshop recently restocked them after the first shipment sold out within a day.

Jeffrey Campbell “Tick” Cheetah Platform Wedges

Well, while I was writing up this post on Jeffrey Campbell‘s tribute to the Ashish for Topshop wedges a.k.a. “Tick“, most sizes just flew off the shelves and it’s quite understable why. These wedge booties will give you an almost identical look for half the price. Good deals don’t last long I guess. Will keep you updated if I find more shops selling these. If you are a size 7.5 you can still make them yours. But order straight away or they will be gone by tomorrow.

These zippered boots by Azzedine Alaïa are so fierce. I adore them! Zippers are very much on trend right now (as are buckles) and you can’t walk into a shoe store without seeing Balmain look-a-like boots pop out of everywhere. That’s why it’s so refreshing to see a zipper boot being NOT inspired by Balmain. I really like the idea of having the freedom to either zip it up when it’s cold or leave it open when it’s warm outside (or if you just had a pedicure and want to show off). However, the price of £1.135 (~$1.860) leaves a lot to be desired.

Thanks to Jeffrey Campbell you can get an almost identical look of the Azzedine Alaïa zipper boots for 1/10 of the price. Apart from the matte leather and the rounder heel I can’t really a difference between these two. Gotta love JC! :)

UPDATE: This post has been updated on October 05, 2009. Scroll down to read the news.

Does this sound familiar? You see something and are really turned off by it first, but then, the more you look at it, the more it grows on you until you become obsessed with it? That happens to me quite often I must admit. In almost every case it’s a shoe which I first hate, then like and finally LOVE! The last time this happened to me was with these lace-up ankle boots by Ann Demeulemeester.

P.S.: Brownsls is selling the Ann Demeulemeester lace-up boots in white.

When I first saw them, I thought they were way too clunky for a woman’s feet. But I couldn’t help but be fascinated by them, so I decided to give them another chance and googled them. Sometimes, in order to be able to see a shoe’s full potential, you have to see it on a person’s feet. That was definitely the case with the Ann Demeulemeester lace-up boots. The moment I saw the models flaunting them in a mini dress, I was irrevocably in LOVE!

I couldn’t find any celebrities rocking these beauties, but fashion editors and style bloggers like Jane of Sea of Shoes happen to love them as much as me.

UPDATE (10/05/2009): More good news! Free People have finally restocked Jeffrey Campbell’s Ann Deumeulemeester knockoffs. Missed out on these the first time? Now is your chance to get hold of these cuties!

Sometimes I think everything Jeffrey Campbell does these days is copying other people’s work. Well, it may be unethical, but at least it allows us budget fashionistas to be fashionable without the hefty price tag. Look at these beautiful, almost identical knockoffs. Pretty amazing, huh? They sure are shamelessly expensive for knockoffs, but even priced at $198 they are about $700 les than the originals, so they can’t be TOO bad, right?

All sizes are still available, but you better be fast as these knockoffs won’t stay for too long (they’re also exclusively sold at Free People, so if they are gone there, you won’t find them anywhere else).
