Real vs. Steal – Acne Atacoma Lace-Up Wedges
UPDATE: This post has been updated on March 07, 2010. Scroll down to see the new add.
Acne’s Atacoma wedges have been lusted after and obsessed over countless times after Alexa Chung has sported a pair on her now cancelled MTV show. They sold out as soon as they hit the virtual shelves of several online shops, have been restocked again, then sold out again. If you are a EU size 37 you can still get them for a steep $620 (€430) at MyTheresa. Cheap, I know!

Real vs. Steal – Chanel Spring 2010 Clogs
UPDATE: This post has been updated on February 27, 2010. Scroll down to see the new add.
Some shoes take time to grow on me; others I want immediately. The studded clogs from Chanel’s S/S 2010 runway fell into the latter category. I don’t know if it’s the 60s-70s clothes kick I’ve been on recently or maybe just the fact that I love how nude shoes of all kinds elongate the leg (that 4 inch heel helps too!) but I prayed to the fashion Gods above that someone would come out with a knock-off (the Chanel shoes being out of my budget and all). Usually my prayers of that kind get answered – by the Steve Maddens and Jeffrey Campbells of the world – and I was not disappointed…

UPDATE (02/27/2010): Just learned that NORDSTROM now has the JC clogs in stock now for a budget-friendly $124.95 in black and tan. These are going to sell out quick, so order straight away.
I just received these Jeffrey Campbell “Charlie” clogs (I ordered them immediately after seeing them) and I have to tell you – they’re just as fabulous as I imagine Chanel’s to be. That scary 4 inch + heel is surprisingly comfortable to walk in and I just love their retro spirit. From the chunky wooden heel to the gold studs, these are truly an excellent knock-off. And for $178 (see retailers listed below for more prices), they’re really a steal. The clogs are available in either beige, black or tan.

From the side, these wedges by Mini Market might look like just yet another ankle boot wedge to you, but if you look at the back of these darlings they suddenly become serious business. The zipper on the heel is so crazy, sexy, cool. Once these wedge booties had been discovered by the fashion blogosphere everyone went gaga for them, they sold out in an instant & were never to be seen again.

As always Jeffrey Campbell is the man to turn to if you’re looking for a budget-friendly version of these edgy, sold-out-everywhere wedges. His “Pixie” wedge booties may be suede and they also miss the hiking sole, but everything else from the shape to the zipper on the heel is identical. Plus, they are also more than $150 cheaper.

Real vs. Steal – Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony Buckle Boots
UPDATE: This post has been updated on February 11, 2010. Scroll down to see the new add.
After running this blog for more than 6 months, I don’t get as excited as I used to when spotting a new knockoff. Today, however, was one of these rare days. A few months back when it was announced that Chloë Sevigny would design a second collection for Opening Ceremony (Fall/Winter 2009), I spotted a pair of to-die-for black buckle boots on Chloë’s feet and I instantly fell in love.

It was one of these shoe obsessions where I was even willing to take the plunge and go for the real deal, but my enthusiasm came to an abrupt end when I learned that a) the buckle boots wouldn’t be available until late August/September and b) were priced at $625 which is twice the price I expected/hoped them to be.

I tried to find reasonably priced knockoffs for weeks, but never found anything noteworthy. Until today when I accidentally stumbled upon these buckled boots by Jeffrey Campbell. Just look at them, they look almost the same except the original O.C. boots have those additional buckle caps which is a minor bummer, but otherwise they are identical and cost only 1/6 of the originals’ price. Big YAY!

Real vs. Steal – Givenchy Jersey Print Open-Toe Wedges
If you’re a fan of fierce designer shoes I’m pretty sure you’ve already heard a word or two about the genius that is Riccardo Tisci and his brilliant work for Givenchy. The color palette for Givenchy’s Spring 2010 collection was mostly limited to black & white and all the shades in between. The shoes were over-the-top as usual and – combined with the tribal prints and the extreme platform – gave off a modern urban warrior vibe. I know these won’t be everyone’s cup of tea; for most people it will be either flaming hatred or endless love. I belong to the latter. But as much as I love a crazy designer shoe, at $1.600 a pair all I can do is admire them from afar.

HOT DEAL: Get 15% OFF your order with our secret coupon code JOYX15. Come on, HURRY!
Jeffrey Campbell is the underdog among all copycats. Only he is fearless enough to imitate such a bold and uncommon design. Where others go mainstream JC stays true to key features which is probably one of the factors why his shoes sell like hot cakes. These tribal-printed wedges based on the super sold-out “Tick” style scream Givenchy even though they do have a few differences (wedge heel, platform height, etc.). It pains me to say this, but the lower wedge heel is probably a lot easier to handle than Givenchy’s sky-high 5″-6″. This particular style is exclusive to Karmaloop, so be aware that once they’re gone, they’re gone forever! Stock up on these fine heels while your size is still available and make sure to use the coupon code above (it will save you $22.50).

Real vs. Steal – Balmain Crystal Embellished Studded Sandals

Balmain is all the rage right now. It gets worn a lot these days. Their Spring 2009 collection was such a success! One of the most wanted items from that collection were the studded embellished stiletto sandals. They scream BADASS! After hitting the shelves of NET-A-PORTER (priced at breath-taking $2.300) the heels completely sold out within a day or two. If you can afford the real thing, I highly recommend you invest in them. If they are way out of your budget, no need to panic! I have found a bunch of good and affordable Balmain alternatives for you.

Aldo “SMEAL” Studded Sandals
Aldo was one of the early adopters of the Balmain shoe trend. Their knockoff version “SMEAL” has been around for a few months now. It’s not my favorite among the Balmain knockoffs, but it’s certainly a good alternative to the real Balmains.

Real vs. Steal – Chloé Flat Over-the-Knee Boots
It’s not often that I meet a flat that I like, but these flat over-the-knee boots by Chloé aren’t exactly your everyday flat boot. A little pirate (with their folded tops), a little bondage (with those glorious leather straps criss-crossing from back-to-front), these boots are both edgy and practical. Imagine how great they’d look with black tights and winter shorts or leggings and a boyfriend cardigan? Ahhh. I can almost imagine sliding them…uh. Wait. Not at $1.295 a pair!

So back to that fantasy of being the ingénue in fab flat boots and shorts…thanks to Jeffrey Campbell, it is actually possible. Save yourself more than $1.000 and grab a pair of Jeffrey Campbell City Over-the-Knee Flat Boots. Like the Chloé boot, they have those wonderful criss-crossed straps, and you can still walk a mile in them. And should your feet begin to experience some pain, at least your finances won’t. Jeffrey Campbell “Whip” Platform Ankle Boots
UPDATE (10/08/2009): Solestruck now stocks an all-black version of the “Whip-2″ creeper boots.
Now look at these buckled boots by Jeffrey Campbell. I know the cheetah/leopard print on the front may look confusing first, but if you look at the shape, heel and details you will recognize them as an almost identical copy of the Phi booties above. It seems as if JC already incorporated the animal print trend for coming spring into these boots (see Alexander Wang Spring 2010). I must admit that I’m tempted, but not completely sold on the cheetah print. What do you think of these boots? Fierce or fugly? … Oh, and did you know the alias name of the JCs is “creeper“, too? Yeah, not obvious at all.

OK; this is just ridiculous. Solestruck got a brand new shipment of Jeffrey Campbell “Tick” wedges in today and within hours while I was preparing this post, most sizes have already sold out… for the 99th time probably. I knew people are crazy about these silver tack wedges, but who knew just HOW crazy they were to get their hands on them. It probably has to do with the many public outings on fashion/style blogs (see picture below) why they are so popular. I hate to jump on the trend bandwagon, but damn, these look HOT! Now head over to solestruck and grab a pair, that is if your size is still available.
