It’s quite rare to find a designer who does not only great clothes, but also great shoes. The genius that is Alexander McQueen certainly belongs into this category. I always look forward to what he’s coming up with season after season.

His shoe designs are sometimes crazy, sometimes painfully cute or edgy or just badass like these grommet slingback booties below. But they are always unique. There is ONE thing that bugs me about his shoes though: the PRICE, of course! Despite being on sale, you’d still have to shell out more than $600 to own these kickass heels. Sadly, this is no option for me.

These Giuseppe Zanotti heels bring the bootie trend to a whole ‘nother level. I can’t decide weather it’s the swoop detailing at the ankle or the bad-ass (can I say that here?) grommets that I love most. Unfortunately these bad boys will set you back over 480 big ones, and that’s the sale price!

These Mojo Moxy boots are obviously modeled after the Giuseppe Zanotti version. They may lack the same towering heel and gorgeous detailing in the grommets, but overall they fit the bill and the price is right. For a savings of over $400 they’ll certainly get the job done. Judging by all the Real vs. Steal posts that cover shoes I think it’s safe to say that I’m a total shoe addict. I get a lot of emails with requests to identify shoes worn by celebrities and I am now debating whether I should be worried about the fact that I’m almost always able to recognize them. These Giuseppe Zanotti open-toe booties (RRP: $999) for example were quite easy to id because of all the unique details. Saw them and instantly knew the designer!

Michael Antonio “Misty” Ankle Boots

OK, I know these booties by Michael Antonio look slightly different because of the higher shaft, the stiletto shaped heel and the extra layer underneath the grommets, but it’s SO easy to see where the inspiration for these came from. They probably added the extra layer only because they wanted to release this bootie for the fall/winter collection. If you like the Giuseppe Zanottis, but don’t have the $$$ to splurge, these budget-friendly booties are a good investment.

I love a delicate shoe with a rocker edge. It sort of epitomizes my favorite style – soft and hard. I think L.A.M.B. must have designed their “Ricki” ankle cuff sandal with me in mind. I love the wide but delicate straps across the toes and bridge, and then that ankle cuff with grommets! These would look divine paired with a full mini skirt or flouncy, girly dress. Happily, these are on sale for $195 (original retail price of $355!), but only very limited sizes are available.
