Alright, let’s talk Gucci again. I know we’ve already featured the “Princetown” loafer mules here on this blog before, but that was just the basic, no-frills version and ever since the huge success of the “Princetown” loafer, Gucci has released like a gazillion variations of new Princetowns, so we felt obligated to show you at least one more of the most coveted Princetown styles. This blog post will focus on the floral embroidered one which features a delicate pink rose embroidery on the vamp and either comes with a fur trim on the footbed ($1.050 now: $1.100) or not ($780 now: $820). If you can afford the real deal, by all means, go for it since there are absolutely no signs of the loafer mule trend slowing down this summer. But if you’re on a tight budget and dropping that kind of money on ONE pair of shoes is simply not justifiable to you, keep on reading as we’ve discovered some amazing Gucci alternatives that won’t break the bank.

Vintage Havana Rose Mules

Let’s start off with my favorite Gucci Princetown dupes! They’re by a brand called Vintage Havana and look almost identical to the pricey Princetowns, but cost only $48 which is exactly $732 cheaper than the real deal. Now that’s a steal deal, right? Some sizes are already out of stock, so you better hurry if you want a pair!

Next up are these fabulous Gucci look-alikes by Steve Madden. These are a great alternative if you’re looking for the (faux) fur-trimmed Princetown version. They’re not an identical dupe, but close enough to get you the coveted Gucci look and all that for the budget price of $89 which is absolutely awesome! Make sure to use the promo code above to save an extra 20% on these loafer slides which would lower the price of these darlings down to an even budget-friendlier $71.20. Score!

Another one of my absolute favorites are these spot-on Princetown dupes by EGO which also come in nude and white faux leather (perfect color choice for Spring and Summer). EGO is a footwear brand based in the UK, but they also offer worldwide delivery. Just in case some of you Non-Brits are interested in these as well.

Romwe Rose Embroidered PU Fur Trim Loafer Slippers

Silent D “Ganthon” Rose-Embroidered Slide Loafers

If you’re willing to invest in a pair of quality designer dupes, check out these fab loafer slides by Silent D. They have noticeable differences to the real deal such as the rose embroidery and the horsebit detail, but the overall design still exudes that luxe Gucci Princetown look. Made of genuine leather and available in either navy or nude. Price: $124.99.

LaRosa Embroidered Slip-On Loafer Mules

And lastly, here’s a Gucci Princetown look-alike made of genuine leather for under $70! I found this dupe while browsing Amazon recently, the brand is called LaRosa and the loafer mules come in either black or white. I can’t personally vouch for this brand as I think these Gucci dupes are from one of those many generic China-based copycat sellers, but judging by the pictures, the quality looks decent for $69.99.

Is there anyone out there who wasn’t crazy about some aspect of the Burberry Prorsum fall/winter 2010 collection? From the draped, ruched mini dresses, to the over-the-knee boots, to the completely delicious cropped shearling jackets—it was a sensation at the minimum, iconic at the max. And you can see why. The Shearling Funnel Neck Aviator Jacket looks like a cloud in the form of a clothing. If I could justify $3.5k for it, I so would.

Banana Republic Leather Sherpa Bomber Jacket

Update (11/15/2016): More than three years after our last Burberry Prorsum jacket steal find, Banana Republic decided to revive the (faux) shearling aviator trend and came up with an amazing Burberry-inspired alternative. It’s quite expensive at $1.400 (retail price), but also so, so gorgeous much so more affordable than the real deal’s $3.595, don’t you agree?

So today I had a dentist appointment and figured since it’s only a short 3-minute walk over there I could do without my gloves and my wool cap (OK, truth be told; I was in a hurry and couldn’t find them… again). But as soon as I stepped out I regretted my decision almost instantly. It was so darn cold! The harsh wind froze my fingers to my face and even though it was only a very short distance it felt like I had to walk for hours to get to the dentist. An absolutely torturous experience! All I could think of is to get home asap and crawl under my cozy blanket with a hot chocolate. Brrrr! And the moral of my story of weather-inappropritae dressing: Prepare for the cold! Because it will come, eventually. Get shoes that’ll keep you warm in this bitter cold. Shoes like these amazing shearling-lined ankle boots by DV by Dolce Vita for example. L.O.V.E.

Current Obsessions – Fall 2010 Edition

by Irina on November 10, 2010

With every change of season I’m tempted to empty my whole wardrobe and stuff it with all-new stuff again. These are my current obsessions:

Current Obsessions - Fall 2010 Edition

Go Shopping:

  1. Nasty Gal Shearling Aviator Jacketcj, $98 – Shearling jackets? Do I really need to explain it? I love the Burberry-esque vibe, the rich brown color & the price!
  2. Rachel Rachel Roy Marquesa Dresscj, $119 – Most of us naturally transition to dark and muted colors during the fall season which is fine with me most of my time, but sometimes I like to break up the greys, browns and blacks with a dash of color. I love the almost neon-like vibrancy of this canary yellow dress and think it would make a great and unexpected dress for all the upcoming holiday parties.
  3. B. Makowsky “Makati” Shopperamazon, $288 – There’s something about this bag that screams Hermés to me. Maybe it’s the rich burnt orange color or the textured leather, I just know it would make a great addition to my rather measly bag collection.
  4. Napoleon Perdis Devine Goddess Lipstick in Calypsocj, $24 – Really addicted to hot pink lipstick right now! I think it’s a flattering though admittedly daring shade for almost every skin and hair type.
  5. China Glaze Nail Laquer in Turned Up Turquoisecj, $7.50 – The weather is absolutely at its worst here right now. It’s cold, rainy and depressingly grey. Light up your day with a hint of Carribbean feeling by opting for turquoise nail polish.
  6. ASOS Tailored Twist Front Ponti Pencil Dressls, $65.51 – I think I declared my love for cobalt blue a few times already and with dresses I like to stick with classic silhouettes like this fine pencil dress here.
  7. MICHAEL Michael Kors “Runway” Rose Gold Watchls, $275 – I’ve always loved rose gold jewelry and accessories ever since I was a kid and first saw them in my mom’s jewelry drawer. I’m glad the trend is coming back with Victoria Beckham’s rose gold Rolex being the trigger of the recent rose gold wave.
  8. MICHAEL Michael Kors “Fulton” Bootiesamazon, $185 – There’s no way I could end an obsessions list without at least one pair of shoes, right? These suede Michael Kors zipper booties would make a great addition to my shoe closet and I’m sure I’d get a ton of wear out of them.
  9. ASOS Long Hair Faux Fur Coatls, $75.94 – Now I’m usually not one to fall for big, fluffy (faux) fur coats, but this one I ADORE! It looks so soft and cozy, stylish on top and quite affordable, too. L.O.V.E.

Fall has arrived. We waved summer goodbye. It’s time to pack all the sundresses in the back of the attic and get out the boots, coats and cozy winter scarves. Weather-wise it’s not the greatest season, but fashion-wise it’s a total win. One word: Layering! I decided to sum up all the fall trends that I’ve noticed on the F/W 2010 runways and put them together in one outfit. Tell me what you think of it!
