So can we first gush a little about the incredibly talented lady that is Wendy from Wendy’s Lookbook?! Seriously, girl has got mad style & a very refined taste. Her outfits are always so well put together; never bland or boring. Case in point: this lovely striped outfit that instantly caught my eye. So I decided to recreate it on a more budget-friendly level. What do you think? Does it do Wendy’s style justice? I can’t believe she’s been style blogging only a little over a year. There is nothing more romantic than lace! Especially red lace to vamp up the sexiness! Alexa Chung looks STUNNING in this Erdem Margot Lace dress and I honestly don’t think anyone can work it the way she did on the NET-A-PORTER spring issue. I also love how Michelle Williams paired the dress with an animal print pump to give some good contrast! Yet, priced at $2615 this might break the bank for some (well, probably most) of us, so below is a good alternative!

Fall has arrived. We waved summer goodbye. It’s time to pack all the sundresses in the back of the attic and get out the boots, coats and cozy winter scarves. Weather-wise it’s not the greatest season, but fashion-wise it’s a total win. One word: Layering! I know Balmain is supposed to be a super exclusive, high-end, ultra-luxe fashion label and even though I am used to see outraging prices for the most basic clothing I’m still apalled whenever I see the price tag of anything Balmain. I mean, come on, $13.000 for a sequin mini dress? Are you serious? As much as I adore Balmain and all of Christophe’s wonderful work for the French fashion house, there’s no way I would EVER buy it even if I had a few thousands to spare.

Lipsy Jewel Shoulder Pad Sequin Dress

Luckily, you don’t need to sell your soul in order to achieve the same glam sexy vixen look à la Balmain. Lipsy has come up with a great and 100x more affordable alternative. I wish they wouldn’t have dampened all the outstanding features that made this sequin LBD stand out (e.g. shoulder pads, plunge neck and length of the dress), but all in all it’s still a super sexy dress which goes to show that you don’t need to spend a fortune to look like a million dollars.
