So my recent “Budget Looks” haven’t been really budget-friendly, but I will still say it is one as long as each item is considerably affordable on its own. Which I think is the case in this look. I’m just loving this beautiful floral sheath dress and while florals might not be too groundbreaking to wear in Spring, it’s a proven, timeless trend that’ll still have its place in fashion 50 years from now, so who cares if it’s an obvious outfit choice?

Initially, I was less than pleased upon seeing Pierre Hardy‘s latest design collabo for GAP. Overall, I thought the shoes lacked color & originality. Definitely not worth the $100 for what they were sold for! And I still stand by my opinion for most of the line. But then I started seeing a specific style over and again, a taupe floral lace-up wedge, modelled & loved by various style bloggers (i.e. Jessica from What I Wore, Jennine from The Coveted & Rebecca from The Clothes Horse) and I instantly began to crave it. Badly! The fabulous girls (you should totally read them all!) revealed an appeal about these wedges I first didn’t see was there. The stock picture doesn’t do the shoes any justice.

Beyoncé very rarely goes for feminine frills and girlie flowers, but what better day to ditch her usually glam look for something softer than Easter Sunday? From the front a totally unsuspecting white with pink cherry blossoms dressy by Pencey. Then turn around and she brings sexy back. Cheesy, I know, I know. My words, not her outfit. She looks great and the Topshop Victoria flats give her usually heeled feet a nice rest.

UPDATE (05/23/2010): Just discovered that the cute Victoria face ballet flats are back in stock at Topshop. They slightly differ from Beyoncé’s version because these have a gold chain ankle strap and not of a pearl one, but everything else is identical.

When the H&M Garden Collection debuted last week, and promptly flew off shelves, I had a feeling that a floral revolution was upon us. I, myself, have been lusting after a floral bustier for what feels like ages. Of course the onset of spring always brings with it a love of all things abloom, but this year feels especially flowery. Clearly our favorite starlets are just as besotted – and with the floral mini-skirt in particular. It feels fresh and young and pairs equally well with knee-high boots as it does with sky-high heels. I don’t always advocate jumping on the trend wagon but in this case all I can say is “welcome aboard”.
