So my recent “Budget Looks” haven’t been really budget-friendly, but I will still say it is one as long as each item is considerably affordable on its own. Which I think is the case in this look. I’m just loving this beautiful floral sheath dress and while florals might not be too groundbreaking to wear in Spring, it’s a proven, timeless trend that’ll still have its place in fashion 50 years from now, so who cares if it’s an obvious outfit choice?

I’ve heard tell that color is huge this spring/summer (but I mean, really, when is it not?) and everything I’ve seen in the fashion mags/internet blogs has confirmed as much. Tis the year of color, my friends, and who better to interpret that trend than Rebecca Taylor. She is the queen of whimsical, feminine silhouettes and soft, draped fabrics. Taylor’s Asymmetrical Occasion Dress is right on trend with a ruffle-trimmed one-shoulder neckline and bright & playful tangerine color. It is the perfect dress for those summer evening parties. But (and you knew this was coming) it’s fairly pricey at $325.

UPDATE (04/05/2011): Found another great Rebecca Taylor alternative in blue by Eliza J for about half the price of the original.

LuLu*s Divine Approval Dress
LuLu*s has really become one of our top go-to retail sites for designer-inspired clothing and this is why. Their Divine Approval dress is a great knockoff of the Rebecca Taylor number above. I can already tell this delectable coral color will look smashing with a tan, but for those of you who favor the cooler end of the spectrum, they also have an emerald color available. But really, for $33, why not just pick up both?
