I must admit I’ve never heard of Akiko Ogawa until a few months ago when I spotted a pair of her kickass metal plated wedge boots on the feet of model sensation Chanel Iman who rocked them during Fashion Week (discovered via Jak&Jil; a must read for every shoe aficionado). It was love at first sight and I became slightly obsessed with these cut-out wedge boots. However, up until now I wasn’t able to find out how much they retail for or where I can buy these boots in the first place which is probably for the better since I’m fairly certain I couldn’t afford them anyway.

Jeffrey Campbell “Madness” Wedge Boots
If you’re a regular here on InTheirCloset, you’re probably aware of Jeffrey Campbell‘s inability to come up with own designs. Most of his shoes are either heavily inspired by designer footwear or are flat out copied replicas just like these boots which he rightfully named “Madness”. I seriously can’t spot one single difference when I look at both the designer and JC’s knocked-off version. Can you? If you like what you see and are still in need of a pair of badass boots to float around in the snow, be FAST! This style is going to sell out in no time!

Finding weather appropriate shoes for the transition phase between summer and fall can be quite tough sometimes. You can’t wear sandals because your feet would freeze at night, but wearing booties the all day long will cook your feet and make them a boiling torture as well. That’s why open-toe ankle booties are just perfect for this difficult time. They let your feet breathe during the day, but keep them warm at night. The Giuseppe Zanotti cut-out peep-toe booties below are a great example of such footwear.

Type Z “Twilight” Cut-out Ankle Boots
These cut-out peep-toe booties by Type Z will give you an almost identical Giuseppe Zanotti look for about 1/6 of the original’s sale price. The heel is slightly thicker on these knockoffs, but apart from that they could be easily mistaken for the real deal, don’t you think?

Dorothy Perkins Lace Up Strap Booties
UK/European fans of the above Giuseppe Zanotti peep-toe booties can save some serious cash as well by opting for these Zanotti look-a-likes by Dorothy Perkins. They lack the contrast white stitching, but make up for this with the almost identical stiletto heel. Plus, they’re currently on sale for £25 (were £38).
