Monsieur Christian Louboutin transports us back into the 70′s with his groovy “Super Dombasle” cork platforms. Well, describing these just as platforms might be a slight understatement. SUPER MEGA BADASS PLATFORMS would be more fitting, I guess. I don’t know whether I would be daring enough to rock these 6 inchers, but I sure love the bright turquoise suede on these and cork shoes are ideal spring/summer shoes.

To no one’s surprise Steve Madden has copied Louboutin’s mega platforms, but tamed them a little by reducing the platform by 1.25 inches which I actually prefer because it makes them so much more wearable. If you’re not into brights, these beauties also come in blue or black floral print.

I’m a big fan of Stella McCartney! Very much like with Prada and Miu Miu I might not approve of EVERYTHING that is shown on the runways, but when I find myself liking something from these designers chances are high I really, really LOVE it. Case in point: Stella’s “Maia” cork wedge from last year. Despite the remote resemblance of Birkenstock shoes I am still highly attracted to this wedge. Also, how genius is the pink lining? It’s small details like these that can turn a good shoe into a truly great one. What’s not so great about it? Oh yeah, I forgot… the steep price of $735. Also the fact that it’s sold out.

Thanks to BCBGeneration, we can now rock our own Stella McCartney wedges for a fraction of the price. Their “Crespo” wedge sandal is an almost identical copy of the “Maia” even though I wish it had the same hot pink lining as the original. But at $71.99 I am not one to complain. These Steve Madden “OPTICALL” Suede Platforms mirror the pumps by Giuseppe Zanotti. Besides the slight color difference, they are one-for-one. In fact, all design elements are incorporated. A simple summertime wedge is sometimes all a girl needs to be happy. Now what’s shocking is that this simple wedge is by Christian Louboutin – the Liberace of shoemakers! No crazy 7 inch wedge. No crazy accouterments. Just a nice pinkish/mauve patent leather shoe. If only one could “simply” find $595 to pay for this much simplicity. But oh well, how do the French say – c’est la vie!

I’m hoping summer is just around the corner, but all I see is snow outside my window! Anyway, I can’t wait to slide into a pair of corked wedges and I think Prada might just fulfill that urge! This Prada wedge is a great neutral and will definitely go with tons of your summer dresses that you’re dying to pull out for this summer!
