Even though they cost more than a grand, people bought them like crazy and the boots soon were sold out everywhere.

Famous fashionistas Kate Bosworth and Sienna Miller both sported the studded ankle boots in red. Kate was literally obsessed with those boots and wore them whenever possible last year. And can we blame her? They are so cute and both women looked absolutely fabulous wearing them, didn’t they?

Jeffrey Campbell “Starburst” Studded Booties

Free People always seems to get the best Jeffrey Campbell knockoffs. First they got the awesome Ann Deumeulemeester lace-up boots and now they sell knockoffs of the iconic Chloé studded ankle boots (Free People call this style “Northern Lights” while JC and other retailers named it “Starburst”). Don’t they look almost identical? The heel is a bit off, but the studs and buckles are pretty close to the original. The only downsides are that the Jeffrey Campbell studded booties don’t come in red and retail for not so affordable $198. But the boots are available in black, white and brown, so if you always wanted a budget-friendlier alternative, these Jeffrey Campbell knockoffs are probably your last and only chance as the Chloé booties are a couple of seasons old now.

How amazing is this pair by Steve Madden for only a fraction of the price? They have the same details, with just a few modifications: silver vs. gold hardware and a slightly shorter heel. But other than that they are almost identical! Upon closer look, I think a pencil skirt and a white blouse would look fantastic with these. Finish the outfit with a handbag similar to Stella McCartney’s Falabella, and keep the rest of your accessories modern and minimal: perhaps add a set of silver bangles and that’s it. More great news? They are also available in cognac and white leather.

While Alexander Wang‘s Fall 2009 collection didn’t impress me much in terms of clothes I must admit I am quite fond of these buckled pointy ankle boots which were also a part of this collection. The other shoe styles were a bit too masculine for me, but the “Hanne” boot had just the right amount of edginess and badass punk. Sadly, they are also quite pricey at more than $1.200 a pair.

These buckled ankle boots were designed by shoe design genius Giuseppe Zanotti for the hottest brand in Fashionville right now, Balmain, for their Fall 2009 footwear range. I wasn’t really a fan of this collection until I saw these badass rocker booties. My only problem: finding the pocket change to afford these. Sigh!

UPDATE (10/05/2009): Look at this knockoff version by Rosegold and try to spot the difference between this one and the Isabel Marant boots. These booties are as close as you can get to the original.However, a knockoff this great comes at a price: $285. Yup, that’s pretty expensive, but probably still at least a few hundred dollars cheaper than the original. If you have the cash, why not spend it on these awesome knockoffs?
