Brown

I usually don’t bother much for flat shoes and they hardly ever catch my attention. Guess I’ll always be a girl in heels, though I do covet flat shoes from time to time especially when they’re crafted quite as well as these buckled beauties by Pour La Victoire which are absolutely adorable and lustworthy, even for a die hard heel lover like me. I picture these cuties with denim shorts and a loose fitting tank or a girly floral dress and a straw hat. PLV’s whole S/S 2011 collection has turned out really, really well and I’d sport almost any style from this collection. Too bad PLV shoes are not exactly budget-friendly.

First off, a Happy New Year to all our lovely readers! We hope you’ve come to spend a fabulous New Year’s Eve. Alright, but now let’s get back to business. Shoe business. Despite the rather simple design of the Christian Louboutin platform espadrilles pictured below I still find myself to be quite enamored with these summer beauties. Funnily enough, these also happen to be on the lower price spectrum of a Louboutin (most Loubies start to retail at $795+), but even the rather “modest” price of $535 I simply cannot justify with my current budget. Well, a girl can dream…

Clearly these Coconuts by Matisse espadrille wedges are not as high as the Louboutins, but if you can look past this and the fact that they lack the superior quality of high-priced designer shoes, you’ll find an almost identical Loubie look-a-like with these. Avaiable in brown or black.

Christian Louboutin always seems to get it right, even if we’re talking espadrilles rather than sky-high pumps. Espadrilles have really seen a revival in the last couple of years but to be honest it took me a while to warm up to them. What I love about these Almeria Espadrille Wedges, however, is that they are a throwback yet totally modern at the same time. Sexy but also casual in a lovely summer-picnic kind of way. Celebrities obviously agree, as evidenced by the photos below. Clearly they’re in their budget, but are they in yours?

Jessica Simpson “Heathery” Espadrilles

If the answer to that question posed above was “No” but you’re still loving the idea of a cute pair of espadrilles to help you prance your way into spring, consider these sandals by Jessica Simpson. I didn’t initially have high hopes for her line of shoes, but I have to say that I’ve been pleasantly surprised. Not only are these a great price, but they’re practically identical to the Louboutins. Just throw on your favorite sundress and voilà: a perfect (and inexpensive!) look for those warmer months.

Well this is definitely the season of the wedge. We’ve seen them pop up in countless Spring/Summer shows, in various colors and textiles. I think what makes them so popular is that they’re a versatile shoe: inherently casual but just add leather or a bow and you’ve got yourself one hot date shoe. The Miu Miu Cork and Leather Wedge Sandal embodies this perfectly. A luxe mocha leather and some exquisite details (knots, stitching, leather wrapped around the heel) make this sky-high wedge stand out from the pack.

Rosegold “Casey” Wedges

Rosegold is a company after our own heart. Only recently on our radar, they seem to be dedicated to delivering almost replica-like knockoffs of our favorite shoes. Do you recall the post back in November wherein we featured Rosegold and their Isabel Marant Otway Studded Booties knockoff? Those were excellent but take a look at these. I beg of you to spot a difference between these Casey wedges and the original Miu Miu wedges, above. Besides a slightly lower (read: more manageable) heel, they look virtually identical. At $168 they may not be a total impulse buy, but that’s still a ridiculously good price compared to the originals! Available in black and brown.

We do get a few reader requests per day and while we’re not always able to find a great alternative right away, we store those reader requests in our archives and keep coming back to them to make sure we do our best to help our readers find something within their budget. Take this request by Kimberly from March 2010 for example where she asked us to help her find a cheaper alternative for a pair of Pierre Hardy booties.:

I just saw these boots at Barney’s New York. They are a little out of my budget at $1000. Anything similar? I love the style and cut!! Thanks!!

It might has taken us 9 months to find a proper alternative, but these slingback sandals by Chinese Laundry sure were worth the wait, weren’t they? They are virtually identical if compared to the Pierre Hardy originals, but cost only 1/10 of the price. Available in cognac and black. Hope we could help you out, Kimberly! :)
