Real vs. Steal – Stella McCartney Mesh Basket Sandals
UPDATE: This post has been updated on March 10, 2010. Scroll down to see the new add.
Mary-Kate Olsen is quite the trendsetter. A few weeks after being spotted on MK’s feet, Stella McCartney’s mesh sandals hit the digital shelves of NET-A-PORTER, but sold out there super fast. If you are craving the real deal, you can still find them on Stella’s website or read on and let me show you some recession-proof alternatives.

Mary-Kate Olsen Loves Stella McCartney
At the beginning of 2009, Mary-Kate Olsen was having an obsession with Stella McCartney’s mesh sandals from the Spring 2009 collection. She was wearing them to various events and when being out and about before finally moving on to another pair of lustworthy heels which she could wear to death.

Bebe “Lizzy” Mesh Sandals
I always thought Steve Madden is the king of knockoffs, but after seeing so many knockoffs coming from Bebe latey, I have come to the conclusion that they deserve this title. Whenever I visit their website, new designer knockoffs have popped up just like these Stella McCartney knockoffs for example. Bebe’s “Lizzy” sandals come in 3 different colors and retail for $139.

Real vs. Steal – Giuseppe Zanotti E90433 Ornamented Sandals
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, everyone needs a little bling for their feet. Wear your trusty old LBD but jazz it up with some jewelry – of the foot variation. I present to you Giuseppe Zanotti’s ornamented sandals. Ink black base, 4 inch heel, blue and silver jewels affixed on delicate straps. Need I say more? The only problem is that, while these are on sale for $563.50 (what, only?), they actually retail for $1.140. Personally, I’d rather put that towards real jewelry.

Martinez Valero “Carmela” Sandals
If you love the Giuseppe Zanotti Ornamented Sandals we featured above and are ready to throw down some serious cash, WAIT! Just look at these “Carmela” Sandals by Martinez Valero. They are virtually indistinguishable from the Giuseppe Zanottis – down to the multicolored gemstones – but only cost a fraction of the price. So pretty and so affordable! Also available in ivory.

Heel of the Day – Jeffrey Campbell “Tick” Wedges
UPDATE (03/10/2010): Restock alert! LuLu*s got a shipment of the JC Ticks in and they’re selling them for the cheapest price! Head over and get them now, these are going fast. And use our exclusive coupon code INTHEIRCLOSET for 15% OFF your order!
OK; this is just ridiculous. Solestruck got a brand new shipment of Jeffrey Campbell “Tick” wedges in today and within hours while I was preparing this post, most sizes have already sold out… for the 99th time probably. I knew people are crazy about these silver tack wedges, but who knew just HOW crazy they were to get their hands on them. It probably has to do with the many public outings on fashion/style blogs (see picture below) why they are so popular. I hate to jump on the trend bandwagon, but damn, these look HOT! Now head over to solestruck and grab a pair, that is if your size is still available.

Real vs. Steal – Miu Miu Coffer Matelasse Leather Hobo
Pssst! Hey you! Yes, you. Consider this your memo: gold is having a moment, and at the moment, black and gold are hot. So the Miu Miu Coffer Matelasse Leather Hobo is like tackling two trends in one. Double the hotness, right? This bag is the stuff my handbag fantasies are made of…black leather, striking hardware, pockets, multiple carrying options, and Italian craftsmanship to boot. Mmmmmmmiu Miu, I love you.

Diva Lili Levine Satchel
Ok, so after a cold shower I’m back. That Miu Miu Coffer Matelasse Leather Hobo had me swooning, and not just cause it’s gorge, but because it’s also $1.650. As much as I’d like to justify it with some cost-per-wear logic, that is hella high for a handbag. So instead, I’m thinking the Lili Levine Satchel by Diva is a happy medium. Same styling as the Coffer, without emptying the coffers to get it. But you knew we had a fab alternative, didn’t you? Cause at ITC, that’s how we roll.

Real vs. Steal – Sergio Rossi Dakota Woven Booties
UPDATE: This post has been updated on March 07, 2010. Scroll down to see the new add.
It’s been about a year but I am now fully committed to the open-toe bootie look. I think it’s the versatility that gets me – they look equally as great with a skirt or dress as they do with pants. These Sergio Rossi Dakota booties are the perfect new addition to the trend. The basket-weave and pale wooden heel scream spring (get here, already!) but the dark leather glides you effortlessly into fall. I think these hot booties would look awesome with bare legs but also beautiful with colored tights. Unfortunately with a hefty price tag of $366 (sale price!) those outfit ideas are merely a day-dream.

Michael Antonio “Matteo” Woven Ankle Boots

Boutique 9 “Yashi” Huarache Pumps
I was psyched when I happened upon these Boutique 9 heels. While slightly more of a pump than a bootie, these shoes totally embody the spirit of the Sergio Rossis. Some of you may actually also prefer the black heel to the tan of the originals. Available in both tan and black, I picture these worn with a full skirt and a brightly-colored printed top.

N.Y.L.A. “Writhe” Huarache Pumps
For those of you that liked the deep brown color of the originals but not the price, this version by N.Y.L.A. might be perfect for you. These booties are slightly more rugged than the Dakotas but they also are considerably cheaper and still have that great basket-weave look. With a myriad of colors to choose from, you can’t go wrong.

Real vs. Steal – Acne Atacoma Lace-Up Wedges
UPDATE: This post has been updated on March 07, 2010. Scroll down to see the new add.
Acne’s Atacoma wedges have been lusted after and obsessed over countless times after Alexa Chung has sported a pair on her now cancelled MTV show. They sold out as soon as they hit the virtual shelves of several online shops, have been restocked again, then sold out again. If you are a EU size 37 you can still get them for a steep $620 (€430) at MyTheresa. Cheap, I know!

Real vs. Steal – Giuseppe Zanotti I90089 Embellished Sandals
Did you know that Italian shoemaker Giuseppe Zanotti first expressed his creative side as a DJ in the ’80s? Yeah, looking at his I90089 Embellished Sandals, I would never have guessed it either, because the man makes a sensational sandal. And an expensive one as well….the original retail price of this sublime strappy creation is $695, and frankly, even on sale at $405.32, it’s a hard purchase to justify. Of course Zanotti’s shoes are borne of old-world, Italian shoemaking standards, but that’s still a heck of a lot of euros for a sandal.

BCBGeneration “Mercury” Sandals
Every so often we get lucky and hit the mother lode in terms of designer lookalikes, and today is one of those lucky days. Can you see the difference between the Zanotti sandal above, and the “Mercury” by BCBGeneration? I certainly can’t. Actually, there is one major difference: the price tag. Try $109.95 on for size…feels a whole lot better than $400+, doesn’t it? Also available in black, cream & white.

Real vs. Steal – Christian Louboutin Rolando Pumps

Of all the classic Louboutin styles that are out there, I love the “Rolando” pumps the most. They are perfect in every aspect. I love the almond shaped toe, the elegant heel and the hidden platform which equals extra comfort! L.O.V.E.

Dolce Vita “Madison” Pumps
Louboutins are not easy to knock off and I have searched very loooong before I found these stunning Louboutin look-a-likes by Dolce Vita. They miss the red sole, but everything else is almost identical. The “Madison” pumps come in black and nude patent (such a cute color!), but if you prefer a matte version they are also available in an array of different colors and variations.

Heel(s) of the Day – Say What “Rock Candy” Pumps
Normally, I hate to tell you guys about great finds which are only available in very limited sizes, that’s why I usually keep my mouth shut so as not to water your mouth and spare you the disappointment that the majority of you with the average sized feet can’t have them hot heels! But these I have to share with my lovely readers: the “Rock Candy” pumps by Say What. I am crushing real hard on the hot pink version; unfortunately they’re only left in 2 sizes. Alas, no pink pumps for me! Bummer! However, the black patent version which is very Louboutin-esque with its red sole and delicious faux glossy patent is just as good and such a classic, too. Every woman should have a pair! Oh, did I mention these babies cost under $42? That’s what I call a great deal. Hurry and grab a pair now (that is… if they have your size, of course)!

Real vs. Steal – L.A.M.B. Ricki Ankle Cuff Sandals
I love a delicate shoe with a rocker edge. It sort of epitomizes my favorite style – soft and hard. I think L.A.M.B. must have designed their “Ricki” ankle cuff sandal with me in mind. I love the wide but delicate straps across the toes and bridge, and then that ankle cuff with grommets! These would look divine paired with a full mini skirt or flouncy, girly dress. Happily, these are on sale for $195 (original retail price of $355!), but only very limited sizes are available.

Liliana “Porter” Ankle Strap Sandals
If an almost $200 price tag is still a little hard to swallow, or if your size is just simply not available, take a look at these “Porter” ankle strap sandals by Liliana. For a mere $31, these aren’t real leather, but they have that awesome cuff and high heel. They also come in a plethora of colors: black, pewter, fuchsia, white and red.
