Another lovely option (with a more Grecian look like the Armani Privé) is this stunner by Tadashi Shoji. It would have been our first “steal” recommendation, but it is not available in white. Boo. However, isn’t the fuchsia a sight to behold? We love the vibrant color and ultra-flattering draping, and can’t imagine that anyone who wore this dress wouldn’t get a gazillion compliments on it. Alexander McQueen is one of my favorite designers of all time and I frequently find myself falling in love with almost everything he designs. And these fabulous Alexander McQueen striped leather pumps at NET-A-PORTER were absolutely no exception. The peep-toe pumps originally retailed for $805, then went on sale for still-not-very-affordable $603.75 and are now completely sold out.

Real vs. Steal – Stella McCartney Felt Military Coat

So I absolutely adore this double-breasted wool coat by Stella McCartney. It is my ideal coat! The tailoring is exquisite as is the wool felt the coat is made out of. But as usual style and quality come at a price; in this case the price is as high as $2.495. Not exactly my kind of shopping budget. But since having a good coat is essential in the winter I tried to find an affordable yet stylish alternative.

Celebrity Look 4 Less – Diane Kruger in Chloé

Diane Kruger is one of my absolute red carpet favorites. She’s always so flawless and on-point when attending public events. You’ll never catch her wearing some boring black dress or follow a trend blindly. She has impeccable taste and this reflects in her red carpet outings. Case in point: Diane wearing a black velvet jumpsuit (in fact, it’s a combination of matching blouse + pants, but it looks like a one-piece to me). Isn’t it just gorgeous on her? It’s not easy to pull off a velvet jumpsuit, but Diane masters it perfectly.

If you’re still looking for a holiday outfit and don’t want to wear what everyone else is going to wear, why don’t you opt for Diane’s look instead? I like that ASOS’ version is more snug and doesn’t have the exaggerated hips which can be quite hard to carry off if you’re not a runway model. Add a studded belt, statement shoes or a bright clutch to make your outfit pop and prevent it from looking dull. Also available in teal.

Christopher Kane has gained quite a bit of momentum lately with many of his designs being worn on the red carpet by red carpet pros such as Diane Kruger and Emma Watson. His collaboration with Topshop has definitely raised his profile as well. The layered geometric sheer dress below is just beautiful. I love the sculptural sillhouette, the subtle sheerness and the contrasting black velvet piping. A modern take on the classic shift dress.

ASOS PETITE Organza Shift Dress

If you want the same look without breaking the bank, ASOS has a really good and budget-friendly option. They changed the color to be a light pink instead of eggshell and the black piping is slightly different as well, but all in all it will still give you a very similar look for a much lower price.
