Alright, listen up all you Kim Kardashian haters who blasted her in one of my previous posts: if you don’t like her here, just click away! If you’re still reading, then I’m going to consider you Team Kim. And I don’t care what anyone says, Kim’s bod is sick and she is totally gorgeous. So what if she likes tight. Now’s the time, not when she’s 80. So I say Kim in lacy Preen, with bright pink nails and Veronica Lake hair? Yeah, baby!

Ever since Rihanna wore this caged mini dress by Funktional it quickly became a topseller and soon sold out everywhere because the dress wasn’t only stylish, but also quite a steal at $85! If you’re desperately trying to get your hands on the original, you may still order it at StyleQ, BUT (and there’s always a but…) the dress won’t ship before July 15th, 2010. Can’t wait that long? Read on then…

ASOS Cage Shoulder Zip Back Top
ASOS knows you love Rihanna’s style and/or the caged look, so they went on to create their own caged dress whereas they shortened their version and simply made a top out of it. It’s not that much cheaper than the original, but since that one wasn’t overly pricey in the first place I still think we have a bargain buy here.

Sometimes I really question my sanity. I will jump at the chance to buy and subsequently wear (all night long) a pair of 5 inch heels, however when it comes to bags I am much more comfort-conscious. I carry my Rebecca Minkoff cross-body purse more than any other bag in my closet, and it’s because it’s just so darn comfortable. I really love a cross-body bag because it distributes the weight of all your worldly possessions while simultaneously looking effortlessly chic. My new favorite bag to fall into this utopian category is the Proenza Schouler PS1 Large Leather Satchel. God, it’s a beauty, isn’t it? I’m particularly lusting after the gray color Leighton Meester is carrying. Unfortunately this satchel retails for $1,995. Yes, folks, life is cruel.

ASOS Leather Slot Through Satchel
UPDATE (05/14/2010): I just stumbled upon another ASOS PS1 inspired version and I think it looks absolutely amazing. The bags comes in black, nude, yellow, green, mink & black/brown, is made of real leather and although not every detail is spot-on the overall look & feel is very similar to the Proenza Schouler PS1 in my opinion.

ASOS Leather Twist Lock Satchel
But wait! What light through yonder window breaks? ASOS‘s Leather Twist Lock Satchel is not an exact copy of the Proenza Schouler bag but it is so similar in all the ways that count (I considered seeing that Shakespeare reference through to the bitter end but didn’t want to bore you). I love the buttery looking leather and of course the long cross-body strap. I am also quite fond of the rich tan color. I truly think this is an excellent “inspired by” satchel. Now if only it came in gray…

A few days ago actress Blake Lively has been spotted running errands on the Gossip Girl set in what I would describe as a perfect casual summer ensemble. The blonde beauty paired a blue button down shirt over an off-white tank top which she wore with navy shorts and a tan skinny belt. Her look was finished with lustworthy chocolate brown Louboutin espadrille wedges and a tan bowler bag. Absolutely adorable! See our approach to Blake’s outfit with budget-friendly picks from Old Navy and Steve Madden below and let us know what you think of our Look 4 Less.

TGIF! The InTheirCloset team wants to wish you a happy, happy Friday hopefully to be followed by an equally wonderful and relaxed weekend. Fab Friday 5 will be a new weekly feature where the ITC team members will highlight their favorite 5 things from last week. This week’s my turn. I hope you will enjoy my finds and obsessions.

The Breakdown:
- ModCloth No Predica-mint Belt
, $34.99 – I’m currently obsessed with the color mint and have already done a post on my Mint Must-Haves. If I had known about this mint studded belt when I first wrote the post you bet I would’ve included it.
- McDonald’s Hot Caramel Sundae, $1 – OK, this is totally unrelated to fashion, but can I just say how much I LOOOVE the hot caramel sundae from McDonald’s? It’s cheap, delicious and your hands are always sticky no matter how much you try not to mess with your ice cream. Perfect summer treat!
- ASOS Hinged Metal Armour Ring
, $16.85 – Ever since Vahni showed off her kickass BCBG hinged ring I’ve been on what seems an endless hunt for statement finger jewelry. My ultimate Holy Grail of hinged rings would have to be the Vivienne Westwood Armour Ring and I’m already saving up for this $260 obsession (helloooooo birthday present!), but for now this ASOS ring will do.
- Zoya Nail Polish in “Charla”
, $5-7 – Nail polish is one of my new found passions and I’ve managed to accumulate quite a nice collection over the last few months. Zoya’s mermaid turquoise “Charla” glitter nail polish from the Sparkle collection is probably the prettiest color I’ve seen this summer. You think it looks awesome in the bottle? Then check out how AHHHHH-MAZ-ING it looks on the nails at All Lacquered Up. Absolutely gorgeous!
- ASOS HARBOUR Striped Wedges
, $37.06 – OK, you didn’t really think a shoemaniac like me could end a favorites list WITHOUT mentioning at least one pair of shoes, did you? I’m so in love with these summery striped wedges by ASOS. In fact, they were one of the reasons I couldn’t go shopping-free this month as I originally planned to. But how is one supposed to resist a 40% reduction? D’uh!

You know when you wear an outfit and someone tells you that you look great and “that’s totally your color“? Well, someone needs to tell Hayden Panettiere that. Pastel pink looks fantastic with her skin tone and hair color. The shoes and bag give the otherwise sweet dress an edgier look that is definitely not matchy matchy. Snaps to Hayden and her stylist!

Now I really try not to jump on every trend that comes wafting my way but I gotta tell ya, clogs had me at “Hello!“. I have no real excuse for this. I’m not Dutch. I didn’t grow up in the 70s. But they call to me. There’s something so easy and carefree about them. Even when they’re sporting a 5 inch heel. There were a couple of designers that really caught my eye in the clog department this past S/S 2010 show season, but Miu Miu definitely tops my list. Look how cute they look on fashion blogger, Rumi, below. I love how the bridge of the shoe looks like it’s been worn down some; and I love the studs. I love, I love, but I can never afford. Boo! In any case, these are – not surprisingly – completely sold out.

ASOS “PROMISE” Leather Studded Clogs
ASOS and I are friends and I’ll tell you why. Because they always make great versions of the celebrity shoes and clothes I lust after. We can clearly see where they got their inspiration from when it comes to these leather studded clogs. The heel is obviously much thinner and the leather doesn’t have that worn-in look but I just think they’re astounding. The cognac leather looks wonderfully luxe and the arch is perfect. These are sure to make your legs look a mile long. They are also so affordable compared to the originals. I heart them!

Peep-toe booties are a favorite of mine but I know it took a while for most people to fully embrace them. Intellectually I know they make no practical sense, but I can’t help it – I find them disarmingly sexy. Well, combine that peep-toe bootie with a zipper and you’ve got yourself what is possibly the trendiest shoe of the moment. Alexander Wang‘s Freja Open Toe Laced Zip Booties (say that three times fast) have been so incredibly popular that they sold out immediately on NET-A-PORTER. They are still available on Shopbop, but at such a high price I’m not surprised by the influx of mail we’ve received asking us to locate a suitable knockoff.

ASOS “TURNER” Suede Lace-Up Peep-toe Shoes
Now readers, I know these aren’t an exact copy of the Alexander Wangs (I fear we’ll most likely have to wait a few months for those to start flooding the scene – but when they do, be sure we’ll feature them here!), but it’s quite clear to us where ASOS gleaned their inspiration from. With the flap, high heel and peep-toe you’ll be getting the same general sexy feel as the Alexander Wang booties but without the hefty price tag.

Dorothy Perkins Zip Buckle Ankle Boots
Now if what you really loved about the originals was that amazing zipper detailing, then maybe these Dorothy Perkins‘ Zip Buckle Ankle boots are for you. The flap is still there with the aforementioned zippering, as is the peep-toe, but they’ve also added buckles, another huge trend for 2010. While these are a little bit of a stretch from Alexander Wang’s Frejas, these are definitely my favorite knockoff. I’m a sucker for hardware and I love how they cut the front peep-toe part of the shoe a little wider than normal – certainly vaguely reminiscent of the Wangs. If you can’t wait for an exact knockoff of the Freja booties to emerge, why not give these a try?

I’ve been looking at this picture of model Nika Lauraitis posing in front of the Barbadian sun for the last few days and I must say I’m slightly obsessed. The editorial called Sweet Reverie (shot by Max Abadian) has been printed in Flare’s May issue and it is outstandingly beautiful, relaxed, dreamy. Definitely one of my favorite editorials of 2010. I’ve been especially smitten with Nika’s delicate white lace dress (hers is by Dolce & Gabbana S/S 2010) which she wears over a black corset here. White lace is undoubtedly tricky to pull off for grown women, but I think I found a couple of great and budget-friendly options which could look – if accessorized right – almost quite as eye-catching as D&G’s lacy number.

It’s unbelievably hot & sunny here in Germany right now which of course is a good thing unless you have to work in that windless summer heat. That’s why I do everything I can to stay cool & hydrated by taking cold showers every couple hours and drinking lots of cold peppermint tea which led me to the idea to do a feature on the color mint since it’s such a great shade for the summer.
