I am so digging Zoe Saldana‘s style. Seriously, Alexa Chung, Sienna Miller and all the likes leave me cold whereas I love keeping up with Zoe’s fashion choices both on and off the red carpet. Just take this casual ensemble for example. I’ve always been huge on stripes and seeing how Zoe paired her super affordable mini dress by EXPRESS with tan accessories and cool Ray-Ban aviators just makes me fall in love with her style yet once again. She does effortless chic like no other! Check out our budget-friendly take on Zoe’s off duty look with the same dress she wore below and let us know what you think.

Blake Lively is always one to make a statement. Often it’s by accentuating her mile-high legs or shocking us with belly button reaching necklines. Here she covers up more than normal, but still gets the attention in a simple dress in a beautiful and bold hot pink. The great thing about shocking pink is that it looks great on almost everyone – blondes, brunettes, redheads, fair, medium and dark skin. So whoever you are, your wardrobe just might benefit from this post!

Every woman needs that perfect dress in her closet; the dress that hugs in the right places and flows away in the wrong ones. I know generally this is a little black dress but I’m going to argue that a dash of color, on the contrary, is what will really get you noticed. Reem Acra started out as a bridal gown designer back in 1997 but eventually branched out – and perfected – the red carpet dress. Acra’s experience designing for women’s bodies is clearly evident in this satin jersey wrap dress from her Resort 2010 collection. Exquisitely draped with that aforementioned pop of color, this dress was made to flatter a woman’s body.

ABS by Allen Schwartz Crossover Pleated Dress

Now don’t get me wrong: I adore the ocean blue hue of the Reem Acra Satin Jersey Dress, above, however how delicious is the steel blue (cornflower blue?) of our ABS by Allen Schwartz knock-off? It is precisely that inability to pinpoint the shade that really renders this dress so captivating. We’re missing some of the Grecian draping of the original, but I can picture this color looking outrageously good on a whole spectrum of skin tones. Still a bit pricey at $320, but this dress is guaranteed to be your go-to frock for all fancy occasions.

ABS by Allen Schwartz Short Butterfly Dress

Fortunately for us, there exists a designer like Allen Schwartz who has long been in the market of re-creating celebrity dresses. Their “Butterfly” dress is a near-perfect copy of its much more expensive cousin. The dress is white rather than ballerina-pink, but the beautiful shirred bodice and floaty chiffon skirt tell the same whimsical story as the original – and at a much nicer price.

Everyone who follows me on Profashionelle.com knows I have a major girl crush on Zoe Saldana and regularly gush about her various red carpet looks there. The beautiful actress caught my attention last year when she did a promo tour for Star Trek. Her flaming red dress from up-and-coming designer Prabal Gurung which she wore at the Star Trek Germany Premiere in Berlin finally sealed her status on my red carpet favorites top list. In fact, I loved Zoe’s look so much I honored it with a Red Carpet Gold Star!

Social Media is crazy sometimes. Today I was browsing eDressMe for their latest arrivals, knowing they regularly feature designer inspired clothes, and it hit me like a hammer when I saw this dress by Allen Schwartz dress which of course instantly reminded me of Zoe’s Prabal Gurung dress (I’m kind of obsessed with either of them). I then tweeted this to Prabal’s twitter account saying he’s apparently gotten so big he’s already being copied. It wasn’t until a few hours later when I saw several retweets including one by Prabal referring to an article on Fashionista.com where the topic of Prabal being copied by ABS had just started (coincidence? I doubt so).

Anyway, back to the dress. While I think that being copied is a thing that sooner or later happens to all high fashion labels and is pretty much unavoidable – sometimes even welcomed by fashion followers without a celebrity budget – I clearly draw the line when rip-offs come with unjustified price tags. It’s outright shameless to charge $310 for a dress that is obviously the creative brainchild of someone else. The ridiculously high price also can’t be justified by the fabric used since the dress is 100% Polyester. No way I’d EVER pay that much for such a cheap replica. What do you guys think?

Bebe “Trish” Satin Sandals

Bebe did a good job on copying Zoe’s heels. I instantly recognized the inspiration behind these strappy satin sandals. They have a platform and also two straps less than the Emilio Pucci heels, but they still look a lot like Zoe’s heels. If you prefer a funkier version, the shoes come also in fuchsia satin, bronze snake print and black leather.
