Runway to Real Way – Diane von Furstenberg Bow Headbands

by Vahni on March 14, 2010

Did Diane von Furstenberg feel the influence of pop icon and songstress Lady Gaga when she designed her collection of ginormous bow headbands? One can never underestimate Gaga power. After all, the Fall 2010 ready-to-wear shows were teeming with models in “no pants” (Gagaspeak for the bodysuit, worn with, well, no pants). Maybe DvF was inspired by Gaga’s (literal) hair bow from her Poker Face video, with a little glitz borrowed from headband queen Blair Waldorf (of Gossip Girl). It certainly can’t be Tavi Gevinson’s famous, view-blocking bow since the collection was already in production at that point.

DvF’s oversized headpieces may have been fun on the runway, but for real life, there wouldn’t be many females past the age of five willing to rock one. Of course, the little girl in me still loves the sweetness of a bow headband, and luckily we found several affordable, scaled down versions we think you’ll love too.
