Real vs. Steal – Chanel Spring 2010 Clogs

by Celine on December 13, 2015

Update: This post has been updated on December 13, 2015. Scroll down to see the new add.

Some shoes take time to grow on me; others I want immediately. The studded clogs from Chanel‘s S/S 2010 runway fell into the latter category. I don’t know if it’s the 60s-70s clothes kick I’ve been on recently or maybe just the fact that I love how nude shoes of all kinds elongate the leg (that 4 inch heel helps, too), but I prayed to the fashion gods above that someone would come out with a knock-off (the Chanel shoes being out of my budget and all). Usually, my prayers of that kind get answered – by the Steve Maddens and Jeffrey Campbells of the world – and I was not disappointed…

Jeffrey Campbell “Charlie” Clogs

I just received these Jeffrey Campbell “Charlie” clogs (I ordered them immediately after seeing them) and I have to tell you – they’re just as fabulous as I imagine Chanel’s to be. That scary 4 inch + heel is surprisingly comfortable to walk in and I just love their retro spirit. From the chunky wooden heel to the gold studs, these are truly an excellent knock-off. And for $178 (see retailers listed below for more prices), they’re really a steal. The clogs are available in either beige, black or tan.

As much as I love the vintage look of these classic patent leather t-strap pumps by Gucci, I have a hard time seeing myself shell out almost $700 for such a simple shoe design. And I guess most of you are with me on this. Luckily, I found a couple nice (and budget-friendly) alternatives that won’t break the bank.

My favorite steal are these almost identical t-bar heels which I’ve come across at Office. The design is really close to the Gucci pumps, but the price is so much nicer at £65 (approx. $105). Available in black and nude patent leather.

Whatever you want to call this piece of clothing – a blanket, a jacket, a cape or a poncho, there’s no denying that Burberry Prorsum‘s check wool and cashmere cape from the Fall 2014 show has been declared the latest must-have item for fall and winter. Listen up, ladies, we have another Valentino shoe post here and for once it’s not about one from the Rockstud family. After doing like a hundred different Rockstud shoe styles, Valentino finally decided to move on to a softer direction. No studs and no pointy toes anymore, instead followed floral prints and round almond toes. Valentino’s “Bo-y-ch” striped colorblock booties starkly contrast to Valentino’s usual romantic aesthetic. They’re bold and extravagant rather than feminine and pretty and I totally sense a 70s vibe here. It’s a statement boot I would’ve expected from Chloé, but from Valentino? Unusual, admittedly, but I like to be surprised once in a while. Plus, these funky boots totally remind me of those colorful socks probably everyone of us has been gifted in their life at least once by one of their grandmas, aunts or other relatives. Except these cost a hefty $1.375. That would be quite an expensive christmas present!

Update (12/02/2015): Just came across these insanely cute Valentino Bo-y-ch dupes while browsing Choies and immediately wanted to share them with you. Price: $49.99 and they’re also available in a tall boot version.

ASOS “End It On This” Ankle Boots

If you love Valentino’s new funky boots yet can’t afford them, then how about these Valentino Bo-y-ch inspired striped booties I found at ASOS here? They’re obviously not an identical match, but the inspiration is clearly visible I think. And to be totally honest with you, I kind of prefer ASOS’ version because the color selection seems more fitting for Fall and I think the colors here harmonize better than on the real deal Valentinos. What do you prefer? Real or steal deal?
