Cork heels seem so retro and yet so of-the-moment, don’t they? Exhibit A, these “Gaynor” heels by Brian Atwood. I’m a big fan of Brian Atwood, but these cork heels are especially amazing. The cork lends a casual spring-time feel while the black patent leather gives them a festive aura. Guaranteed to win you lots of compliments, these shoes are a must have. Oh, but what’s that? They’re upwards of $600 AND sold out? Well then why not try…

UPDATE (03/23/2010): Found a second steal version of the Brian Atwood sandals by Jeffrey Campbell. The heel is wooden instead of cork, but everything else is quite the same. Available in black and gold.

In my year long experience with designer inspired footwear I learned that Jeffrey Campbell is one of the most frequent names to pop up. As is the term “sold out”. Not quite sure how they do it, but season after season JC manages to create shoes everyone craves and lusts after. The “Clinic” wedges and the “Ticks” are 2 perfect examples for such must-have heels. Every time I see those 2 styles back in stock at Solestruck, a few hours later a big red “sold out” sign is already lurking beneath the picture. Biggest compliment for a shoe designer ever, don’t you agree? If you hadn’t have the chance to get your hands on these hot heels yet, now is the time as Solestruck has received 2 new shipments of both styles. As always for JC shoes: Be fast! Lightning-fast even if you have a popular shoe size.

I know you’re probably a little startled right now. Redesigns always irritate at first. But after 2 years I decided it was finally time for a little visual upgrade to reflect how much InTheirCloset.com has grown over the years. It’s a clean and sophisticated new design with new and improved functionalities and we really hope you’ll like our new look.

I’ve been working on this new design for the past few weeks and think it turned out quite nice. Gone is the endless scrolling and slow page loading. To increase the loading speed we changed the layout of the posts. From now on if you want to see a post in its entireness (e.g. to see the “Steal” alternatives), you will have to click on the “Continue reading“-link. That means more clicking, but the overall loading speed will be highly increased this way and the whole blog will look less cluttered. And that’s a good thing, right?

Some areas might still look a little wonky and unfinished, sorry for that, we’ll be fixing these issues as soon as possible. If the blog looks really weird on your browser or produces errors, let us know by commenting to this post describing your problem with the new layout (don’t forget to mention what browser you’re using).

We know it takes time getting used to changes. In the end we will adjust. After all, it’s still the same content, only with a better design which hopefully results in an overall better user experience. Let us know what you think of our facelift. We appreciate your feedback.

How do you like the new design?

Somehow, someway, Victoria Beckham manages to wake up every morning and look the picture of perfection. There’s a word us jealous girls call women like that. Just kidding. Sort of. Victoria’s form fitting dresses always scream sophistication and her endless supply of accessories are the ultimate in glamour. When she ventured into her own clothing line, I have to admit, I was a bit nervous considering we’ve seen so many of those go awry with other multi-tasking celebs. Victoria did not disappoint with a line that embodies every bit of her own class and style. Here she wore a show stopping candy apple red dress from her own collection, paired with a perfect color match in Christian Louboutin Rolando pumps.

ASOS Sexy Pencil Dress with Pockets

Since Victoria’s dress is from Spring 2009, that exact style ship has sailed, but I’m sure your mama told you that where there’s a will, there’s a way. I’m pretty sure that saying came from women who cannot rest until they’ve created the perfect fashion look they’ve been lusting after – just like the ladies at InTheirCloset. Now we can rest because ASOS has given us a dress that gets the job done and Dolce Vita‘s Madison pumps are almost an exact match. The best part? The entire look comes in for under $200.

Oh, how I adore French Connection‘s “Spot the Dot” dress. The colors remind me of a watercolor painting depicting a spring night and I love how one half of the dress is a gathered, Grecian, one-shoulder but the other half is a bustier – so flattering! The tiered mini-skirt will transition you perfectly from your shopping/coffee date to that dinner/drinks soiree. Don’t start making plans quite yet, though! This dress is, to our mutual chagrin I’m sure, completely sold out.

LuLu*s Spring Bling Dress

Are you heartbroken by the news that the French Connection dress is sold out? Well fear not, trusty fashion side-kick! We have an excellent replacement for you. Just have a look at this LuLu*s “Spring Bling” dress. I think you’ll agree that this is a stellar knockoff of the FC frock. With more wines and grapes than cherries and blueberries, this is a darker version of our above pick but I would say one equally worthy of your adoration.
