Hervé Léger has made a big comeback in recent seasons (now with BCBG designer, Max Azria at its helm), truly pioneering the hugely popular “body-con” dress. A trend defined by its bandage, super-tight frocks, it’s sort-of ironic to think that “body-con” stands for “body-conscious”. Somehow, however, Hervé Léger dresses manage to flatter a woman’s body, hugging and sucking in, in all the right places (just look at how amazing that model looks below!). Lamentably, while I’d love to own one of his creations, I’d have to sell a kidney to make it happen.

EXPRESS Metallic One-Shoulder Banded Dress

Express to the rescue! We discovered this little number on the fabulous, like-minded site, The Look 4 Less. EXPRESS usually wouldn’t be the first place I’d turn to in search of a designer-inspired dress, however they have been in the sexy-dress business for a long time and they happen to have really nailed it with their Metallic One-Shoulder Banded Dress. With a fabulous shape and beautiful golden-nude color, this garment is a great knockoff of the Hervé Léger original and for less than $80, this is a dress I can actually afford.

Update: This post has been updated on March 15, 2011. Scroll down to see the new add.

In keeping with the hugely popular gladiator theme that came about over a year ago, Giuseppe Zanotti has created the I90265 Studded Strappy sandal. I really do love this kind of shoe as a juxtaposition to a white summery dress or you can even go all out and pair them with a black mini. The studs add a little extra somethin’ if you want to wear them to a more dressy affair. I’m not too keen on the price, though, especially not for a sandal as trendy as this one.

Vince Camuto “Wendy” Sandals

Vince Camuto has come out with an exact copy of the Giuseppe Zanotti sandals – the “Wendy”. From the zipper back, to the crossed straps, to the square studs, to the buckle detailing, these are exactly like their big sister, but at a quarter of the price! These sandals are the perfect way to try out the trend without breaking the bank.

Did Diane von Furstenberg feel the influence of pop icon and songstress Lady Gaga when she designed her collection of ginormous bow headbands? One can never underestimate Gaga power. After all, the Fall 2010 ready-to-wear shows were teeming with models in “no pants” (Gagaspeak for the bodysuit, worn with, well, no pants). Maybe DvF was inspired by Gaga’s (literal) hair bow from her Poker Face video, with a little glitz borrowed from headband queen Blair Waldorf (of Gossip Girl). It certainly can’t be Tavi Gevinson’s famous, view-blocking bow since the collection was already in production at that point.

DvF’s oversized headpieces may have been fun on the runway, but for real life, there wouldn’t be many females past the age of five willing to rock one. Of course, the little girl in me still loves the sweetness of a bow headband, and luckily we found several affordable, scaled down versions we think you’ll love too.

Once again the InTheirCloset family is growing bigger! With Vahni and Celine, 2 already wonderful contributors under our belt, we are thrilled to welcome yet another addition to Team ITC: Vanessa!

Vanessa’s expertise lies in celebrity fashion, so be prepared to see more celebrity style coverage here on InTheirCloset very soon. And now don’t be shy and say hello to our newest team member.

Vanessa, please tell our readers a few things about yourself. Where do you come from? What are you doing for a living? What’s your favorite food & color? 🙂

V: My parents are native New Yorkers and I was born there, but at the age of 8 they moved us to Marlboro, New Jersey (50 minutes outside of NYC) for a suburban life that would give my sister and I more room to play outside and of course, my first introduction to shopping malls. Fast-forward 15 years; I started an online shop. It was one of the first e-commerce sites designed so women could shop for items worn by their favorite celebrities. I’m currently still running it and this year adding new stores to the e-shop family. My favorite food is sushi. I LOVE color. Purple, red, navy, yellow and more! I don’t steer clear of any in my wardrobe – except forest green. I don’t really like forest green

How did you get involved with fashion?

V: Totally by accident. After college I was dabbling in event planning when I started a full-fledged business on eBay selling Uggs. Yes, you read that right. I was like the Ugg Genie during a time when no one could locate a pair. From there, I started personal shopping for some very fancy ladies and it quickly blossomed into my own e-commerce store.

What’s your personal style? Any favorite designers?

V: Trendy pieces infused with classic style with a strong affection for accessories. That’s me. My closet is a collaboration of all different price points. My favorite designers are changing and evolving every season. Right now, I love Brian Reyes, Lorick and Alice + Olivia, but basics like American Apparel ribbed tanks and deep v-neck tees are always an important part of my wardrobe.

How long have you been following InTheirCloset.com already and how come you wanted to write for us?

V: I’ve been following InTheirCloset.com since around when it first launched in 2008. Previously, I was a contributing editor for InStyle doing the exact same thing, so I knew that contributing to InTheirCloset.com would be a perfect match for me.

Chanel Classic Flap Bag

If I was a fashion-item, I’d be…

V: A classic Chanel bag. Is that boring? Timeless, adored and always in style.

I would never wear…

V: Never say never because you just don’t know, but I don’t think I’d be caught dead in anything Amy Winehouse has worn. Let’s just say it would clash with my personal style.

I can’t leave the house without…

V: My phone. Addicted. I get jitters without it.

Best Spring 2010 collection?

V: Givenchy. The blazers and goddess-like dresses stole my fashion heart. I love the juxtaposition of the two styles.

Your mantra for 2010?

V: This is MY year! (you’re supposed to say that every year for motivation)

Thank you, Vanessa, for taking the time to answer these questions and WELCOME TO THE TEAM!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, everyone needs a little bling for their feet. Wear your trusty old LBD but jazz it up with some jewelry – of the foot variation. I present to you Giuseppe Zanotti‘s ornamented sandals. Ink black base, 4 inch heel, blue and silver jewels affixed on delicate straps. Need I say more? The only problem is that, while these are on sale for $563.50 (what, only?), they actually retail for $1.140. Personally, I’d rather put that towards real jewelry.

Martinez Valero “Carmela” Sandals

If you love the Giuseppe Zanotti Ornamented Sandals we featured above and are ready to throw down some serious cash, WAIT! Just look at these “Carmela” Sandals by Martinez Valero. They are virtually indistinguishable from the Giuseppe Zanottis – down to the multicolored gemstones – but only cost a fraction of the price. So pretty and so affordable! Also available in ivory.
