I’m a watch person. When it comes to watches, there are two camps: those who always wear a watch, and those who are always asking the time. I can go without earrings, necklaces—all jewelry, in fact—but unless I’m on the beach or in the shower, there is a watch on my left wrist. As a devoted watch wearer, I have strict standards when it comes to watches: they must have numerals, the date if possible, must comfortably fit my wrist, and be totally functional. The Montres de Fleur Barrel Watch by Inexpensive Watches fit nearly all my criteria.

Vahni & Her Montres de Fleur Barrel Watch in white

Before I received the Montres de Fleur Barrel Watch, I have to admit that I really didn’t have high hopes—I couldn’t imagine that a watch that costs less than $15 would have much to offer. But upon opening the package, I was pleasantly surprised by how much more expensive the watch looked than it actually is. I also really liked the fact that the watch face is large and easy-to-read, and that it has Roman numerals (which I prefer). But would it actually work? I was about to see.

I set the watch with no problems, synchronizing it with my usual timepiece to see if it would keep time. Although the band is leather, it was quite stiff, so it wasn’t the easiest watch to put on, but I wore it and from the moment I set the watch, it has kept time quite nicely. I’ve had it for several weeks and it’s still ticking away without issue.

Bottom Line

Overall, this is a fashionable and functional watch that is definitely worth the money (yeah, all 12 bucks). Its classic tank shape makes it appropriate with both business attire and casual wear, but the white strap keeps the watch looking fresh and light.

PROS:

  • The price! So inexpensive and the site offers a money-back guarantee.
  • Looks very classy on. An attractive watch.
  • Easy-to-read and set. Functional and fashionable.

CONS:

  • Leather band felt more like it was synthetic.
  • Band remained stiff which caused the watch to spin a little on the wrist.
  • If you have small wrists, the band will be too big. I had it as tight as it would go and it was still a little large.

I know you’ll probably hate me for showing you these heels by Rock & Republic because they’re on the rather pricey side, but they’re not uber-expensive as well and thus at least worth considering. Now this blog is really not meant to empty your wallet, but these kickass pumps have stolen my heart and I just MUST share my love with you. Let’s start with the statement-making version of these… the yellow one – Oh My God! Can you imagine how incredibly sexy and hot these would look with a pair of dark washed skinny jeans and a simple black tank? Your backview would be talk of the town! And if yellow isn’t your cup of tea and you prefer subtle sexiness in your shoes, I recommend considering the all-black version which is more muted but equally gorgeous in its own jet-black way. Put these on and you’re sex on heels.

Say what you want about Paris Hilton, sometimes she cleans up nice like she did a few days ago when she attended the Us Weekly Hot Hollywood Style Issue Event in LA. Paris dressed up in a black & white Rebecca Minkoff Claudia dress which instantly reminded me of Gwyneth Paltrow’s risqué Antonio Berardi see-through dress at the Two Lovers Premiere back in 2008. Paris added matching black accessories and completed her outfit with the infamous YSL Tribtoos. What do you think of Paris’ monochrome look?

These super shiny bootie sandals by Report Signature might be the cheapest “real deal” we have EVER featured here on ITC yet. It’s usually all about the $700 Jimmy Choos, $900 Louboutins or $1.500 Giuseppe Zanotti heels. Not this time though! The “Downey” Sandals retail for a reasonable $118.99, but due to all the celebrity love they got and because of their awesomeness in general, they sold out in a rush and were never to be seen again. There are a few non-patent sister styles floating around online (see Amazonamazon & REVOLVEcj), but they don’t excite me as much as the super shiny patent version. I’m sure Vahni would approve.

Charles Albert “Barb” Peep-Toe Pumps

Since we can’t get our hands on the original anymore, let’s do the second best thing and turn to Charles Albert for an almost perfect “Downey” dupe! This “shootie” might not be quite as polished as the original and the heel is also a tad lower here, but for less than $30 I don’t care much about it. The style is identical as is the shiny (faux) patent leather. What more could you ask for? Did I mention they’re only $30? Go figure!

If you’re not so into the shiny patent leather, but do like the overall style, check out these Downey look-a-likes by ALDO. Like the Charles Albert version above these here are also almost identical, but just have a buttery leather finish. They are currently on sale for $54.98 (retail price was $100) and you can pick them in either black or natural (they call it taupe, but it’s actually more of a nude-like color).
