When I first saw these studded combat boots and read that they are Saint Laurent, I had to double check it because I wasn’t expecting this drastic change of style from Hedi Slimane. His first womenswear collection for (Y)SL was very classic and feminine and so were the shoes (e.g. “Jane” high heel and “Paris” ankle boot) that it seemed unlikely to me that Slimane would swing in such a different direction within just one season. But obviously I was wrong and Slimane’s second collection for Saint Laurent (F/W 13/14) was screaming nineties grunge all over! And while I prefer Slimane’s first collection over the second one (including the footwear), I must admit that these spike-encrusted boots have a strange appeal that I can’t quite put in words.

Jeffrey Campbell “Draco” Strapped Stud Boots

One look at the price tag of the (Y)SL boots and it was clear that there’s no way I could afford them. So what’s the next best thing? Yeah, Jeffrey Campbell and their “Draco” boot. Not a 1:1 dupe but obviously very, very Saint Laurent inspired. At $329.95 this ain’t a steal, but it’s still way cheaper than the Saint Laurent original.

Oh, Tom Ford! Ever since watching this documentary about him, I kind of have developed a soft spot for the well-spoken Texas-born designer. While I was a little too young to appreciate his creativity and talent when he was doing his magic for Gucci and YSL back in the 1990s, I have been following his own brand with a lot of interest over the last few years. It’s not often we feature Tom Ford on this blog which is mainly due to the fact that the mainstream fashion chains rarely pick up on his collections, but this bootie is an exception. It’s sexy and extravagant (check out the screw-studded backls!) but also works for the mainstream fashion taste. What doesn’t work for the masses though? The hefty price tag of $1.490!

Steve Madden “DIANNA” Peep-toe High Heel Booties

If you want Tom Ford for less, Steve Madden is your dealer! Madden’s “DIANNA” peep-toe bootie sure has Tom Ford written all over it, no? While it does miss the cool screw-studded detail in the back, it does have the higher heel of the two and – if you ask me – the nicer arch as well. Plus, splurging on these booties won’t leave your credit card crying for mercy.

So who doesn’t love a good lasercut high heel sandal? I know I do and it seems like fashion bloggers love ‘em just as much. These B Brian Atwood black suede beauties are absolutely gorgeous, don’t you agree? I love them in both the black and the bright purple hue. However the $425 price tag is a little too steep for me.
