Real vs. Steal – Louis Vuitton Monogram Vernis Alma Bag

by Irina on January 5, 2010

There’s something I really hate about designer fashion and that is shameless label-whoring. I never understood the appeal of flaunting an oversized logo on your chest, bag or wherever you can print a big CHANEL on. Seriously, do people really think they get more respect when everyone knows they’re toting around an expensive bag? Expensive does not equal style. And if there’s anything worse than label-whoring it’s fake label-whoring. I mean if you are going to brag at least make sure you have a reason to do so. Possessing a $30 fake Louis Vuitton certainly doesn’t count.

I do like designer steals, but I detest counterfeits and will never promote those questionable goods on this blog. I’m sure you’ll know where to get a crappy cheap Louis Vuitton fake anyway. So what’s a girl to do if she adores the Louis Vuitton style, but doesn’t want to be seen carrying a fake on her arm? Exactly, she looks for a bag that imitates the style, not the logos. Handbag Heaven‘s Hartford patent tote is a wonderful example of such bag. It’s very reminiscent of the LV Vernis Alma bag without flat-out copying it. Plus, it’s such a steal at under $50.
