Black leather. A screamingly hot stiletto. Buckles. How do I love thee, Givenchy? Let me count the ways. One of my favorite trends of the last several years is the reintroduction and reinterpretation of the bootie. And Givenchy’s Slouchy Thong Ankle Boots are a winning pair, I must say.

Jessica Simpson “Dakee” Ankle Boots

UPDATE (08/31/2010): Woohoo! Here’s another fantastic Givenchy alternative which is only about half the price of the Marciano booties by Jessica Simpson. Available in black, camel & dark brown.

Marciano “Milap” Booties

I’m sure there are thousands of working-class fashionistas who regularly fantasize about being able to plunk $1.150 down on a pair of booties, at-whim. Even if that fantasy never comes to fruition, you can still indulge your inner diva with the “Milap” Booties by Marciano. Like the Givenchy pair, they’re black, buckled, and bold—and while they’re no steal deal, $247.95 beats the hell out of more than a grand, don’t you think?
