Real vs. Steal – Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony Buckle Boots

by Irina on June 3, 2010

UPDATE: This post has been updated on June 03, 2010. Scroll down to see the new add.

After running this blog for more than 6 months, I don’t get as excited as I used to when spotting a new knockoff. Today, however, was one of these rare days. A few months back when it was announced that Chloë Sevigny would design a second collection for Opening Ceremony (Fall/Winter 2009), I spotted a pair of to-die-for black buckle boots on Chloë’s feet and I instantly fell in love.

It was one of these shoe obsessions where I was even willing to take the plunge and go for the real deal, but my enthusiasm came to an abrupt end when I learned that a) the buckle boots wouldn’t be available until late August/September and b) were priced at $625 which is twice the price I expected/hoped them to be.

Dollhouse “Alley” Ankle Boots

UPDATE (06/03/2010): Excitement! I just stumbled upon these super fabulous & very reasonably priced O.C. knockoffs by Dollhouse. L.O.V.E.

Steve Madden “REANA” Wedges

UPDATE (04/21/2010): Steve Madden is a little late with his designer inspired “REANA” wedges, but I quite like his take on the O.C. wedge booties.

Jeffrey Campbell “Genius” Buckle Wedges

UPDATE (02/12/2010): Jeffrey Campbell just can’t get over Chloë’s wedges for O.C. Here’s his newest interpretation called “Genius” – Pretty darn close to the originals, don’t you think? Available in grey or khaki.

UPDATE (02/04/2010): Found these Aldo wedges today which instantly reminded me of the Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony Buckle Boots.

Bebe “Karen” Multi-Strap Wedges

UPDATE (10/22/2009): Just stumbled upon yet another budget-friendly alternative. These wedges by Bebe might not be complete rip-offs, but I think they still come pretty close.

Jeffrey Campbell “Belgium” Buckled Wedge Booties

UPDATE (10/22/2009): Here’s JC’s second take on the buckled wedge as seen above which I kind of prefer to the first one.

Jeffrey Campbell Potion Ankle Boots

I tried to find reasonably priced knockoffs for weeks, but never found anything noteworthy. Until today when I accidentally stumbled upon these buckled boots by Jeffrey Campbell. Just look at them, they look almost the same except the original O.C. boots have those additional buckle caps which is a minor bummer, but otherwise they are identical and cost only 1/6 of the originals’ price. Big YAY!

Not a fan at first but now I am starting to warm up to them. I think I am might get the Jeffrey Campbell version. Really loving these and can see me rocking them. So many shoes I want yet so little money to buy them :(

i absolutely love the michael antonio heeled version im not a big fan of wedges maybe thats why but i think the heel looks a bit more edgy than the wedge. wedges just scream “clunky” to me! guess im just not a wedge person, though ill admit theyre far more comfortable

You know, I actually like some of the knockoffs better than the real thing, especially the versions by Dollhouse and Steve Madden! It’s lovely in gray!

Saw the Dollhouse version on your site on Thursday. I immediatley ordered them and they arrived today. They are adorable. This is the 2nd Dollhouse knockoff that i have purchased after seeing them on your site. So far I am 2 for 2 when it comes to being satisfied. Thanks.

Friis & Company also made a knock-off with very similar looking buckles to the original:

Those Friis & Company shoes are the best of the knock-offs listed! Any idea where they can be bought that ships to the U.S.?
