Real vs. Steal – Chanel Spring 2010 Clogs

by Celine on May 9, 2010

UPDATE: This post has been updated on May 09, 2010. Scroll down to see the new add.

Some shoes take time to grow on me; others I want immediately. The studded clogs from Chanel‘s S/S 2010 runway fell into the latter category. I don’t know if it’s the 60s-70s clothes kick I’ve been on recently or maybe just the fact that I love how nude shoes of all kinds elongate the leg (that 4 inch heel helps too!) but I prayed to the fashion Gods above that someone would come out with a knock-off (the Chanel shoes being out of my budget and all). Usually my prayers of that kind get answered – by the Steve Maddens and Jeffrey Campbells of the world – and I was not disappointed…

ASOS HOWDY Wooden Platform Clogs

UPDATE (05/09/2010): ASOS is a bit late to join the clog party, but at least they came up with a decent looking Chanel knockoff.

Steve Madden “CECEILA” Wooden Clogs

UPDATE (03/26/2010): Woohoo! Another Chanel knock-off. This one’s by Steve Madden and it looks a lot like Jeffrey Campbell’s “CHARLIE” clog only that Madden’s version is a few bucks cheaper. Score!

Topshop “SEANNA” Closed Toe Clogs

UPDATE (03/26/2010): Just stumbled upon this great Chanel alternative by Topshop. Available in black (pictured) or whitels. Hurry, they’re selling fast!

Sam Edelman “Flair” Clogs

UPDATE (03/26/2010): Sam Edelman‘s “Flair” clogs are quite reminiscent of the Chanels, don’t you agree?

Jeffrey Campbell “Karl” Clogs

UPDATE (02/27/2010): Jeffrey Campbell has released a new version of the Charlie clog named “Karl” with a raffia fabric upper in either navy or beige. So pretty!

Jeffrey Campbell “Charlie” Clogs

UPDATE (02/27/2010): Just learned that NORDSTROM now has the JC clogs in stock now for a budget-friendly $124.95 in black and tan. These are going to sell out quick, so order straight away.

I just received these Jeffrey Campbell “Charlie” clogs (I ordered them immediately after seeing them) and I have to tell you – they’re just as fabulous as I imagine Chanel’s to be. That scary 4 inch + heel is surprisingly comfortable to walk in and I just love their retro spirit. From the chunky wooden heel to the gold studs, these are truly an excellent knock-off. And for $178 (see retailers listed below for more prices), they’re really a steal. The clogs are available in either beige, black or tan.

Wondering how the Charli translates in real life? Read I ♥ Woodies…a post (and purchase) instigated by intheircloset.com!

LOVE them on you, Vahni! Well worth the purchase I assume. :)

Vahni March 26, 2010 at 3:04 PM

Definitely well worth the purchase (and I paid $178 instead of $124.95…guess patience would have saved me some $$$). But they’re like my new flip-flops…just slip ‘em on and go!

Irina March 28, 2010 at 6:32 PM

Vahni, maybe you can email Free People about the price since they lowered theirs now as well as other retailers. I know Endless does have this policy where you can reclaim the difference if the shoes you bought go on sale within 30 days of your purchase. Might be worth a try! :)

HI!
I have been looking for some white Chanel clog knock offs for months! :( I love the Chanels, OF COURSE, but $1600 is out of my budget. I just saw the Topshops, and those are great! BUT SOLD OUT AGAIN! Whaaaaaaa! Has anyone seen any? I just sewed my own white/tulle skirt and purse and need these bad! Thanks for any help, from one fashion-freak to another~!

Aldo shoes just came out with a great Chanel Clog knockoff. They even have the beige, available in all sizes!

Lourdes April 21, 2010 at 8:53 PM

Okay so I was never a fan of Clogs until I saw Vahni pair them with leg warmers. Totally fashion forward and I now need a pair so bad it hurts. I should have never clicked that link lol.

Irina April 22, 2010 at 12:43 AM

Agree with you, Lourdes, Vahni makes clogs look really stylish. ;)

Vahni April 22, 2010 at 12:52 AM

Thank you Lourdes and Irina! But really, this is all Celine’s fault. I saw them on her (on her blog) and fell in love: http://flnw.blogspot.com/2010/02/not-chanel-clogs.html.

I will humbly take credit for the legwarmers though. I need to do a post just on legwarmers because they are more versatile than most would think! And to think, I bought them initially for shuffling to/from yoga. Who knew.

Thanks for your comments!

PS: I think we should be getting some kickbacks from Jeffrey Campbell…wonder how many Charli clogs have sold because of us?!

Lo April 27, 2010 at 2:00 PM

Great!!! I love them!!! Thanks for the data!

Jones June 12, 2010 at 1:14 AM

Really, what do you mean by “Chanel knockoff”? My mom had shoes like these when I was a wee kid. If anything, Chanel made a decent 70s knockoff.

Irina June 13, 2010 at 7:39 PM

Jones, sure Chanel recycled from past fashion decades, but the popularity of clogs nowadays can be definitely attributed to Chanel’s S/S 2010 collection. No doubt about that!
