Real vs. Steal – Céline Spring 2010 Wooden Wedges

by Celine on May 16, 2010

Update: This post has been updated on May 16, 2010. Scroll down to see the new add.

I’ve always gotten a huge kick out of the fact that I have a luxury brand named after me (OK, OK, maybe not named after me, but you know) and of course I’m even more pleased that Céline actually puts out beautiful clothes, handbags and shoes. I have to be honest with you, though, I’m not a big fan of the wooden wedges that we’re featuring on ITC today. Yes, the craftsmanship is stellar-as always-the leather and suede are beautiful, the studs are exquisite, but that huge wedge just looks vaguely… orthopedic to me. Of course that doesn’t really matter; I happen to know that these shoes have a huge following – I am the lone dissenter! Well, considering that these wedges are by Céline, I’m sure they retail for some astronomical price, but we couldn’t find it. We’re also not sure where they’re being sold BUT…

Jeffrey Campbell “Snick” Studded Wedges

Update (05/16/2010): Here’s another Céline wedge knockoff by our beloved Jeffrey Campbell. His “Snick” wooden wedges are quite obviously knockoffs and come in either natural, tan or black or olive suede.

P.S.: Also available at Shopbopls & Nordstromls.

Steve Madden “WARRICK” Wedges

Yes, BUT…who cares how much the Céline wedges retail for because we found these Steve Madden “WARRICK” wedges and we think they’re a pretty darn good knockoff. Not only are they pretty reasonably priced, but they’re actually available. I also happen to like that these have a slightly gradated platform, as compared to the level platform of the originals. That gives them a more modern look. In conclusion, if you’re going to give this style a try, why not test the waters on the cheaper side of the pool?

Oh I looked for lookalikes of these for the past 2 weeks and this morning, I found the Jeffrey Campbell Snick which looks almost identical Céline ones, just the tan is a bit darker.

  • I actually like the Steve Madden’s better!

Oh I do too! It’s too bad I didn’t check on here first. I normally check on this website every couple of days to make sure I’m not paying too much for cute stuff, but oh well. If I don’t like the Snick shoes, I’ll definitely buy these!

Thanks for always posting your great finds!

Oh you hit the mark with the orthopedic remark as I can recall my Great Aunt Bea had a pair of shoes similar to that fashion. With that said I feel that both Madden and Campbell have done a stunning job by taking the inspiration and designing a better shoe that the Celine (YUCK!).
