Style Battle

Colorful Pom Pom sandals are all the rage this summer, but if you can’t be bothered with complicated and tedious lace-up gladiator styles which take forever to get laced just right, these embellished leather slides by Schutz are a great and just as fabulous alternative – they’re super easy to put on and off which thus makes them the perfect beach or pool shoes for your summer vacation. But if you don’t see yourself spending $160 on a pair of trendy leather slides, well, we just happened to come across an absolute spot-on Schutz “Estelen” look-alike by Steve Madden. The design of Madden’s “Gypsy” is pretty much identical, even the arrangement of the embellishments is almost the exact same! The only noticeable difference here is the $79 price tag on the Steve Maddens which makes them half as expensive as the pricey Schutz sandals. Which slide-on sandals do you prefer, Madden or Schutz? And would you rather splurge or save on this shoe trend? Let us know!

Today we want to try a new feature here on InTheirCloset: »Splurge or Save?«. While doing our research for the Real vs. Steal posts, we often stumble upon very similar items that have varying price points, but are too close together by price to really fit into the Real vs. Steal section, so that’s why we came up with the »Splurge or Save?« category, where you can decide by poll whether you’d rather splurge or save on a certain item. And the first edition of »Splurge or Save?« starts off with pointy nude pumps and tan buckle sandals. The possible savings here add up to $175 for the nude pumps and $87 for the tan buckle sandals. What do you think? Which items would you save on and where would you go all out and rather splurge instead? Tell us in the comments!

If I had to describe my person fashion style in three words, “feminine” would definitely be among it. That’s probably one of the reason why I’ve never been particularly fond of the classic combat boot à la Doc Martens. However, lately I have discovered so many beautiful combat boot styles with feminine details such as velvet uppers, floral prints or lovely pastel colorways that it made me rethink my stance on combat boots being too bulky and masculine (for me). What do you think? Can combat boots be feminine or not? And if so, which of the three versions below is your favorite? The Velvet, floral print or pink one? Take the poll down below and let us know.

We’re slowly approaching the end of September and I think most of us are ready to move on to fall fashion by now. And what better way to start off planning our fall wardrobe than with a pair of slouchy suede peep-toe booties? I’ve been in love with these lovely suede booties ever since I first saw the Chinese Laundry pair a few months ago. This bootie is so chic and versatile and would work with dresses, skirts, jeans, heavy knits, you name it. Then, a few days ago, I discovered an almost identical pair at Nine West. Same design, same materials, same color and a very similar price tag. So I thought these two would make good candidates for a new style battle edition. Which of the booties is your personal favorite? Chinese Laundry’s “Laurel” or Nine West’s “Kacey”? Take the poll below and let us know.
