Shopping Tips

Update: This post has been updated on April 25, 2017. Scroll down to see the new adds.

I have already written in length how much I love everything “Rockstud” from Valentino, so I won’t even start elaborating how I lust over these pyramid studded ankle wrap espadrilles. But the whopping $895 price tag attached to these summer shoe beauties makes them absolutely inaccessible for me. So when I spotted the non-studded ShoeDazzle “Morena” espadrilles shown below, I thought these would be the perfect fit for a DIY Valentino Rockstud project. Personally, I’m not much of a DIYer, but since this DIY idea would only require ironing on a couple of pre-glued studs, the task sounds actually manageable even for absolute DIY beginners like me. What do you think? Are these shoes worth the effort?

Budget Look – Spring, Sporty Florals

by Irina on March 31, 2017

Finally! Spring has officially arrived and I’ve been loving all the sunshine, the blooming flora and the soothing mild temperatures lately! The new season not only lightened up my mood but also my wardrobe; I’m super into pastel colors these days and couldn’t care less for body-con clothes and uncomfortable high heels at the moment. That’s why for this month’s budget look edition, I’ve tried to combine all of my current Spring trend obsessions into one outfit: soft pastel colors, relaxed fits and feminine florals. Let me know if you like my delicate yet sporty Spring look.

Two more weeks until Valentine’s Day and while I’m not particularly excited about V-Day itself (all the single ladies!), I do like any opportunity that allows me to dress up and act all flirty about it. When dressing up, my personal motto is: “Drama, drama, drama!”, that’s why this black off-the-shoulder midi dress by Bardot with its body-con silhouette and the dramatic bell sleeves instantly caught my attention. I immediately started styling this LBD in my head and style-wise it felt like my mind ran in 100 different directions. There are a lot of ways to style this versatile dress and I decided to pick three for you to show: bold, romantic and just plain cute. So if you need some outfit inspiration for your own Valentine’s Day attire, feel free to check out my V-Day look suggestions and let me know whether you like them or not.

It’s been ages since we last showed you a “Shoe of the Day” here on this blog and we thought it was time to revive that feature. That’s why today I present to you: “Andrina” by Calvin Klein, a classic yet playful, almost architectural black ankle boot with a gold rounded heel and a gold oversized buckle at the ankle. “Andrina” is an absolute design classic and will get you a ton of mileage due to its timeless elegance while the gold accents and the intricate placing of the heel will avoid looking it is yet another boring black boot and make any outfit with these boots an instant eyecatcher! $245 isn’t a steal, I hear you, but when I originally first saw the boot, I didn’t look at the price tag right away and immediately assumed this had to be a $700+ designer shoe because of the superb craftmanship and all the clever little details. That’s why I was extra pleased to learn that this is a boot that costs less than $250! So if you’re still on the hunt for the perfect black standout boot that’ll still go with all of your outfits, why not take this one into closer consideration?

Today we want to try a new feature here on InTheirCloset: »Splurge or Save?«. While doing our research for the Real vs. Steal posts, we often stumble upon very similar items that have varying price points, but are too close together by price to really fit into the Real vs. Steal section, so that’s why we came up with the »Splurge or Save?« category, where you can decide by poll whether you’d rather splurge or save on a certain item. And the first edition of »Splurge or Save?« starts off with pointy nude pumps and tan buckle sandals. The possible savings here add up to $175 for the nude pumps and $87 for the tan buckle sandals. What do you think? Which items would you save on and where would you go all out and rather splurge instead? Tell us in the comments!
