I’m crushing hard on animal print right now. Not sure why because I don’t own anything with animal print on it and I never used to like it, but for some reason that has changed overnight! I wouldn’t go cheetah head-to-toe, but a printed scarf or a pair of shoes I approve. These platform wedges by Jeffrey Campbell just won’t go out of my mind. The style is very reminiscient of a pair of Dolce & Gabbana wedges, but this isn’t why I’m so crazy about them. I love the cheetah print! I picture these with a ton of outfits in my head already. Bonus: they are currently on sale! Decisions, decisions…

If you couldn’t guess by now wedges are THE summer shoe of 2010. Espadrille wedges have an especially summer feeling about them, don’t you think? So I recently happened to come across these Michael by Michael Kors flower espadrilles and boy am I in love! I picture them with everything one is practically living in during the summer months: airy dresses, roomy cargo pants, denim cutoffs, rompers, bikinis… you name it.

I do have a strange affection for sky-high heels, but I’m very well aware that they’re not a 24/7 option. Actually, no high heel is doable 24/7, but there are definitely a couple heels which will take you through a full workday or an evening out on the town. The best compromise between looks and comfort is somewhere in the 3″-4″ department in my opinion. I happened to stumble upon the most gorgeous pair of such doable high heels on Endless today. Aren’t these nude pumps by Enzo Angiolini just totally divine? I’m soooo in love with the blush color and while they probably wouldn’t match my skin tone very well (I have a yellow undertone whereas these clearly have a pinkish one), I still love these pumps beyond goodness. If you’re not on the hunt for the perfect pair of nude pumps, Zappos has these heels in an array of different colors & finishes (12!) including such lovely ones as turquoise or yellow. Oh, and did I mention these are $60 only? Awesome!

So yesterday’s HotD was a red wedge and today’s red again. We also just did a trend report on animal print heels today and so I’m sitting there cruising Endless for their latest arrivals and woooosh totally freaking out upon the sight of these crazy high mary jane platforms by Jessica Simpson. Obsessed³
You know how I love a sky high platform heel. They’re not practical, not very wearable, prone to embarrassing wobbling and possible falling accidents, but I still heart a pretty platform above all. Even if it were just for posing or sitting in those 6 inch heels and feeling crazy sexy doing so. Which would be totally the case with these beauties. I admit I’m a little surprised to see Jessica Simpson’s line pumping out so many fab shoes (pleasantly though!). Somehow I doubt Jessica being involved very much in the designing process, but I guess she’s got a team of talented/clever designers who are certainly doing her homework and looking for inspiration on the runways. If red doesn’t tickle your fancy (Vahni, I’m talking to you
), these are also available in an equally gorgeous royal blue suede.

Did we mention wedges are BIG this year? Seriously, I can’t recall having ever seen that many wedges in stores, online, in magazines or on runways, out on the streets or on friends’ feet… and they’ve never looked so fabulous before. I’ll happily admit I catched the wedge fever as well, but it’s hard not to fall in love when there are so many chic candidates to choose from. These little darlings are courtesy of our current shoe crush Jeffrey Campbell and may I say I’m a little obsessed. Now I know these wedge booties won’t be the most versatile pair of shoes in your closet, but they’re so rad you won’t even notice. A cool 2010 update of the obligatory Dorothy shoes, ready to get you the attention you know you want and deserve.

Initially, I was less than pleased upon seeing Pierre Hardy‘s latest design collabo for GAP. Overall, I thought the shoes lacked color & originality. Definitely not worth the $100 for what they were sold for! And I still stand by my opinion for most of the line. But then I started seeing a specific style over and again, a taupe floral lace-up wedge, modelled & loved by various style bloggers (i.e. Jessica from What I Wore, Jennine from The Coveted & Rebecca from The Clothes Horse) and I instantly began to crave it. Badly! The fabulous girls (you should totally read them all!) revealed an appeal about these wedges I first didn’t see was there. The stock picture doesn’t do the shoes any justice.

Today’s Heel of the Day is breaking my heart… Yes, shoes can indeed break hearts – especially when they’re not available in your size. Know that feeling? Let’s rewind.
I was going to do a HOTD post on another Poetic Licence shoe style when I accidentally stumbled upon the “Summer Fling” – a delicious suede t-strap platform sandal that had my name written all over it. You could tell he felt the same way about me. A little shy maybe, but obviously flirting with me and secretly hoping to end up in my ever growing closet. It was love at first sight I tell ya!
So I’m not that kind of girl who falls for quirky, playful shoes easily, mind you – I like mine tough & edgy – but this one was different; it took my heart by storm. I absolutely adore the orange/blue color combo just as I love the mix of used fabrics (leather, suede, cork & reptile print). The chunky heel and the sophisticated double platform did the rest. Suddenly all I kept hearing in my head was: “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!“, so I gave in, pulled out my credit card, ready to make my purchase… only to find out they were out of stock in my size. Not willing to let this uncommon love end that way I was ecstatic to find my fling both available on Endless & Zappos. To my dissappointment I quickly learned that both retailers don’t ship outside the US. Double bummer! Now I can only hope Poetic Licence will restock my new shoe obsession here in Europe, so we can live happily ever after. Fingers crossed!

Ever seen a shoe being described as rock ‘n roll meets summer? The combination does sound a bit odd, but I think this perfectly sums up these lovely studded wedges by Sergio Zelcer. The gold studs on the platform will play up your inner rockstar while the knotted front and the wedge make these beauties ideal candidates for wearing in the summer. Don’t think black shoes will work with your summer wardrobe? They also come in bone and buttery brown as well.

I know you’ll hate me for showing you these heels by Rock & Republic because they’re rather on the pricey side, but not unattainable thus worth at least considering. I’m sorry for that. This blog is usually not meant to empty your wallet, but these kickass pumps have stolen my heart and I MUST share my love with you.
Let’s start with the statement-making version of these… the yellow one – OH MY GAWD! Can you imagine how incredibly sexy & hot these would look with a pair of dark washed skinny jeans and a simple black tank? Your backside would be talk of the town! And if yellow isn’t your speed and you rather prefer subtle sexiness with your shoes, I recommend considering the all-black version which is more muted but equally gorgeous in its own jet-black way. Put these on and you’re sex on heels. Alright, now get on with your hate mail, I can handle it.
