Shoes

If you think of Salvatore Ferragamo shoes, the first one to spring to mind is probably the iconic “Varacj” pump – a one-inch heeled patent ballet-style bow-adorned shoe. This shoe was first introduced in 1978 by Fiamma Ferragamo, the daughter of Salvatore, and has gained a lot of recognition among celebrities like Princess Diana for example. “Varina” is a spin-off of Vara, a more casual and modern designed ballerina flat with a lovely grosgrain bow on the vamp, which has been around since 2007. I’m usually not a fan of ballet flats, but these are so gorgeous and the quality looks absolutely superb, don’t you agree? I’d so love to own these ($450 isn’t that expensive for a pair of made in Italy designer shoes nowadays). If only I had that kind of shopping budget.

ALDO “Juricek” Ballerina Bow Flats

If you can’t afford Italian luxury, but still want Italian style, here’s a fantastic alternative I found at ALDO which looks so similar to Ferragamo’s “Varina” flats. Price point: $70 and the “Juricek” flats come also in bone and black leather.

UPDATE: This post has been updated on October 17, 2013. Scroll down to see the new add.

The shoe which can be worn all year long, weather-permitting in some cases, is this “Lisse” Side Cutout Ankle Boot by Christian Louboutin. It features a rounded toe, super sleek high heel, and a slight cutout on the side hence its name. Though it is so minimalistic, it is similarly just as flattering yet it merely exudes a luxurious look. Although the one featured below is leather, it is also available in blue suede which lends itself well to warmer climate. And since it is an ankle boot, one can really wear anything with it. The major downside is the colossal price tag of $895; therefore, we have a great steal below!

BCBGeneration “Hellen” Suede Ankle Booties

UPDATE (10/17/2013): Came across these Louboutin inspired suede booties by BCBGeneration. My gut feeling tells me it’s a rebranded version of the Sole Society booties below. “Hellen” vs. “Helena”. $99.95 vs. $79.95!

Sole Society “Helena” Low Cut Booties

UPDATE (03/19/2013): Just stumbled upon these amazingly similar low cut booties by Sole Society which are made of real leather and cost only $69.95! Available in black leather or dark red suede. Absolutely love these!

Paris Hilton “Abigail” Ankle Booties

These “Abigail” Ankle Booties are practically identical to the Louboutins, but come at a much more affordable price of $114.99. It’s amazing how similar-looking the two shoes are, considering that these booties are by Paris Hilton while the ones above are by Louboutin. They feature a slight cutout on the side, a semi-rounded toe, and, of course, have a stellar heel just like the designer beauties. Aside from the black leather featured below, these are also available in grey and brown leather. Also, what is particularly interesting is that these heels have pink soles which mimic the classic red-sole Louboutin look even more.

We’ve written quite a few times about Tabitha Simmons shoes already and today is another one of these days where we just have to once more gush about the fabulousness of her shoes. Take a look at her “Wicked” boot for example – instant shoe love, isn’t it? It’s one of these shoes that has to be seen worn to be fully appreciated. I l-o-v-e how Mel C. wears hers with bare legs, a wool coat and a mini dress. So classy yet sexy! These booties used to retail for as much as $1.575 but are now marked down to (still quite steep) $629.

London Trash “Della” Studded Lace-Up High Heel Booties

The “Della” boot by London Trash is no identical match to the Tabitha Simmons ankle booties, but you can definitely see the inspiration here. I usually always prefer the designer shoe, but in this case I prefer the stud details of the steal version. Well, I wouldn’t really consider it a steal at almost $200, but it is a great alternative that will save you a lot of cash in comparison to the designer heels. Available in black leather and leopard print (at NORDSTROM).

2 Lips Too “Too Tumble” Booties

Another wallet-friendly alternative, though admittedly only loosely inspired by Simmons, are these faux suede studded platform booties by 2 Lips Too.

October has arrived which means it’s officially “bootie time“. I have been swooning over Alaïa shoes for years now and I have yet to be disappointed. A few season ago Azzedine Alaïa created these beautiful nude suede high heel lace up ankle boots which have clear cutout mesh panels. Aren’t they absolutely pretty? I can totally see them working with almost anything in a woman’s wardrobe (jeans, dresses, you name it). Unfortunately, Alaïa shoes aren’t known to be budget-friendly… what a bummer!

Chinese Laundry “Lacee” Mesh Panel Lace Up Platform Ankle Boots

These Chinese Laundry lace up platform booties may not be of Alaïa quality, but they surely look a lot like Alaïa, don’t they? The price tag however is a lot nicer to look at only $73.10 (compared to Alaïa’s steep $1.175). Available in blush and black suede.
