There is something flirty yet grounded about wearing peep toe booties with a miniskirt. It somehow instantly makes anything short seem a little more sophisticated. And while you may have been told that ankle boots aren’t for everyone, they definitely can be if you wear them with opaque tights. Plus, the look is perfect for fall. Take this fabulous blue pair by Giuseppe Zanotti, they are such attention magnets and surprisingly a lot more versatile than you’d think. Wear them with blue skinny jeans and a sheer button down blouse for an artsy monochromatic look or with a little black dress and all your pearls for a spin on Audrey Hepburn’s iconic style. Either way, this pair can’t help but steal the show. And it gets better… we found a nearly identical version that costs way less and isn’t sold out.

Trend Watch – Oxblood for Fall

by Irina on September 17, 2012

Declaring oxblood as a fall trend might not seem groundbreaking or particularly new as it is more of a recurring, seasonal theme that comes back year after year just like leather, tweed, mustard and jewel tones. However, some classic fall trends seem to be favored more than others each year and for 2012 we place our bets on oxblood to be the most notable trend. Sure, “oxblood” might not sound quite as appealing as “bubblegum pink” for instance, but don’t let the name scare you off this rich dark berry hue that flatters every skin tone, is considered to have a rather mystic vibe yet is a classic and totally work-appropriate color. In order to spread the oxblood trend, we’ve compiled a list with a few of our favorite oxblood-colored items, fashion- and beauty-wise.

Kitten heels and pointed toes are usually NOT what turns me on about a shoe, but strange enough I think it totally works on these red suede kitten pumps by Isabel Marant. Maybe it’s the lavishly tied bow or the red suede or maybe that they look so French. But I do like these. A lot. Others, including a flood of Hollywood celebs, seem to favor these heels as well since the Poppy pumps have sold out rather quickly online. I especially like how Hilary Duff wore these with a grey tank and rolled up skinny jeans.
