Cheap vs. Cheaper

Update: This post has been updated on January 31, 2017. Scroll down to see the new add.

Before you start wondering whether these oversized bow sandals somehow look familiar: yes, they are obviously inspired by the highly popular Aminah Abdul Jillil Bow Pumps which we have featured in the past except these here are open-toed which I personally find equally charming. The rest is pretty much spot-on identical; including design, color and material. And while $130 for such a beautiful shoe is not what I’d call exactly expensive, we did manage to find an even more budget-friendly alternative which looks just like the Betsey Johnson version but is $90 cheaper. The only noticeable difference is that the heel on the Betseyvilles is straight while the Betsey Johnsons have more of a flared heel. Anyway, which bow sandal would you choose and why? Cheap or cheaper? Let us know in the comments.

Lace-Up heels have officially conquered the shoe world and just like skinny jeans, they are here to stay! We’ve written about lace-up heels several years ago and ever since more and more lace-up styles have surfaced. There just seems to be something so absolutely irresistible about an intricately laced-up foot on a stiletto heel. No doubt: lace-up heels are THE sexy shoes of the moment! If you can’t afford the pricey designer kind à la Aquazzura, you have to turn to the high street and other fast fashion retailers to get your fashion fix. Topshop‘s sexy “Gillian” heels were (and still are) incredibly popular among the fashion blogosphere and have sold out multiple times on the website already. Luckily, you don’t even have to spend that much because I discovered a spot-on “Gillian” dupe by Breckelle’s that looks just like the Topshop version, but costs only a little more than 10% of it! Super steal deal alert!

Dear Steve Madden, you had me at cobalt blue! And fringes are having a good year, too. Saint Laurent put them on shoes, jackets and skirts and Aquazzura created one of the most coveted shoes of the season with their fringed-out Wild Thing heels. That’s why you couldn’t possibly go wrong with these gorgeous blue fringe heels by Steve Madden (obviously, I’m partial to the cobalt blue version, but the yellow or the purple color would be an equally great choice). And while they’re not terribly expensive ($129!) compared to the super pricey designer shoes we regularly feature on this blog, we realize not everyone can spend that kind of money on such a trendy shoe. So imagine my delight when I came across these spot-on “Fringly” dupes by Candie’s which are currently on sale for a $44.99 at Kohl’s (down from $64.99 and also available in either blue or taupe faux suede).
