Cheap vs. Cheaper

Dear Steve Madden, you had me at cobalt blue! And fringes are having a good year, too. Saint Laurent put them on shoes, jackets and skirts and Aquazzura created one of the most coveted shoes of the season with their fringed-out Wild Thing heels. That’s why you couldn’t possibly go wrong with these gorgeous blue fringe heels by Steve Madden (obviously, I’m partial to the cobalt blue version, but the yellow or the purple color would be an equally great choice). And while they’re not terribly expensive ($129!) compared to the super pricey designer shoes we regularly feature on this blog, we realize not everyone can spend that kind of money on such a trendy shoe. So imagine my delight when I came across these spot-on “Fringly” dupes by Candie’s which are currently on sale for a $44.99 at Kohl’s (down from $64.99 and also available in either blue or taupe faux suede).

Ever since I first featured BP.’s “Trolley” booties as a possible alternative for the Acne Pistol boots, they’ve become quite popular with this blog’s readers. So when I recently discovered a spot-on “Trolley” boot look-a-like for less than 25% of the steal deal’s price, I knew I had to share it with you. So here you go: Reneeze’s Baba-02 Zip Ankle Boots. Happy shopping!

Ever since I discovered this Instagram picture on @theshoegirl‘s Instagram profile a few months ago, I couldn’t stop thinking about those gorgeous caged booties. Something about them was screaming EXPENSIVE to me, but I couldn’t recall any designer doing such a caged suede bootie style in the last couple seasons. For weeks, I tried to identify and hunt them down, but no such luck! The caged design reminded me of the famous YSL cage heels from Spring 2009 as well as Louboutin’s Coussin booties which I both loved very dearly. I was already giving up hope when suddenly I came across two (!) great alternative finds in one day. First one is Schutz‘ “Sid” suede bootie which originally retailed for a whopping $270, but is now currently on sale for less than $140. And the second one, and my personal favorite if I might add, is ALDO‘s “Lavinia” caged ankle bootie which looks spot-on to the booties in the picture and cost only $90!
