Pierre Hardy

We’ve seen a lot of colorblocking this year, mostly on clothes. Pierre Hardy incorporated this trend into his Fall 2011 collection which resulted in the blue-beige-rust colorblock suede sandals you see below. I do like the design, but the color combination is a little lackluster, don’t you agree? And this at $1.285!

Jeffrey Campbell “Dressen” Suede Platform Sandals

Now that’s more like it! Good old Jeffrey Campbell took the Pierre Hardy design and spiced it up with more vibrant colors. Still a bit pricey at $188 but so much cheaper than the original!

UPDATE: This post has been updated on March 11, 2011. Scroll down to the new add.

We do get a few reader requests per day and while we’re not always able to find a great alternative right away, we store those reader requests in our archives and keep coming back to them to make sure we do our best to help our readers find something within their budget. Take this request by Kimberly from March 2010 for example where she asked us to help her find a cheaper alternative for a pair of Pierre Hardy booties.:

I just saw these boots at Barney’s New York. They are a little out of my budget at $1000. Anything similar? I love the style and cut!! Thanks!!

Chinese Laundry “Hopscotch” Slingback Sandals

It might has taken us 9 months to find a proper alternative, but these slingback sandals by Chinese Laundry sure were worth the wait, weren’t they? They are virtually identical if compared to the Pierre Hardy originals, but cost only 1/10 of the price. Available in cognac and black. Hope we could help you out, Kimberly! :)

Initially, I was less than pleased upon seeing Pierre Hardy‘s latest design collabo for GAP. Overall, I thought the shoes lacked color & originality. Definitely not worth the $100 for what they were sold for! And I still stand by my opinion for most of the line. But then I started seeing a specific style over and again, a taupe floral lace-up wedge, modelled & loved by various style bloggers (i.e. Jessica from What I Wore, Jennine from The Coveted & Rebecca from The Clothes Horse) and I instantly began to crave it. Badly! The fabulous girls (you should totally read them all!) revealed an appeal about these wedges I first didn’t see was there. The stock picture doesn’t do the shoes any justice.
