Drew Barrymore‘s outfit choices are as unpredictable as is her personality. And while she’s probably not the first who’d come to mind when thinking of a style icon, this outfit here I L.O.V.E. The actress made an appearance on Letterman to promote her newest film “Going The Distance“. Drew looked absolutely amazing in a bronze sequin top by Richard Chai with navy high-waisted Camilla and Marc pants and grey suede Yves Saint Laurent Trib Too pumps. I love how relaxed and glamourous she looks at the same time.

I’m a stalker. I’ll admit it. Luckily for my police record I stalk clothes and not people. It’s still a problem though, as my stalking tends to take up much of my day. Every once in a while, however, it really pays off. Case in point: I’ve loved the Nanette Lepore Lovina Dress ever since it first popped up on Shopbop. I’m a huge fan of the contrast between the brightly colored, lightweight, silk fabric and the more masculine black strap and buckled belt. It feels modern and fresh. Sadly, I don’t have $350 to throw around, especially not on something Nanette’s calling a “beach dress”.

Sometimes, my friends, stalking really pays off. I happened to be looking through LuLu*s new arrivals when I came across this Fashion Director dress. I implore you to spot a difference between this dress and the Nanette Lepore original. Can’t do it, can you? I may have to run off and marry Lulu*s (sorry in advance to my fiancé) because they just have the best knockoffs. I still can’t believe this dress is only $56, and you know what? I think I like this marigold color better than the original deep pink! A must have for summer.

Love this Nanette Lepore shirt—erm—dress?—uh—shirtdress. Actually, I take that back. I have issues with this dress. It’s cute and light and lovely for a casual summer evening, yes—but they forgot the “dress” part. And $248 for a long-ish cotton shirt (or half a dress)? Kinda steep. Don’t know about y’all, but I think only Lady Gaga could rock this and not get arrested for indecent exposure.

Alloy “Ella” Shirt Dress
HOT DEAL: Use coupon code A15CPN to get 15% OFF your order! Or use promo code A25FS for free shipping on orders over $25.
A better choice, for modesty and practicality, is the “Ella” Shirt Dress by Alloy. This is a shirtdress with serious potential. Belt it and add some cognac colored sandals, and it’s an absolute winner. Add leggings and a gladiator heel and go for urban preppy. You could even throw it over a swimsuit when running to/from the pool or beach and look totally pulled together. And for under 50 bucks, plus another 15% off? Ka-ching, baby.

Alloy 3/4 Sleeve Shirt Dress
HOT DEAL: Use coupon code A15CPN to get 15% OFF your order! Or use promo code A25FS for free shipping on orders over $25.
Another option is this sweet little Alloy 3/4 Sleeve Shirt Dress. With its gathered empire waist and puff-sleeves, there’s no mistaking it for a classic menswear-inspired shirtdress. And like the “Ella” above, it is also extremely affordable, even before the special discount.
