Marc by Marc Jacobs

These Marc by Marc Jacobs boots were recently featured in one of my Shopbop Wish List posts because I fell in love with them the moment I laid my eyes on these buckled beauties. Don’t they look absolutely delicate yet raw and sort of pirate-y? I picture these boots with black opaque tights, wool dresses, chunky knits and shearling-trimmed aviator jackets. But at $550 none of my imaginary outfit visions will ever come to life… sadly.

HOT DEAL: Use coupon code “F1015” to receive 15% OFF your entire order!

We already featured these Yoki buckled boots in an other Real vs. Steal (namely a pair of very similar Chloé biker boots), but I figured these boots are also a great budget alternative to the M by MJ buckle boots above with their gold hardware and the various front buckles. If you aren’t willing to put down half a grand for a pair of boots, these might change your mind since they’re less than 1/10 of the originals. Available in black or brown.

My Shopbop Wishlist for August 2010

by Irina on August 8, 2010

It’s been a while since I last did a post on my current Shopbop wish list (it was back in June to be exact), so I figured I’ll give you a small update on my current wantings from there. Shopbop is now getting all the brand new fall collections in and I’m super stoked to say the least. Look at all these pretty little things! Swoon! Too bad most of them are far out of my usual shopping budget. Let me know what you think of my picks.

For some reason I always tend to prefer Marc Jacobs’ diffusion line Marc by Marc Jacobs over his pricey luxury label. MJ (Marc Jacobs not Michael Jackson) is an eccentric designer and often times his designs will NOT translate well into real world fashion. That’s completely OK with me though and I still respect him for constantly thinking outside the box trying to break the boundaries of fashion. However, as far as my personal closet is concerned I rather turn to Marc by Marc Jacobs. Not only because it appeals more to me, but also because I like the relation between price and quality. In terms of high fashion diffusion brands M by MJ is definitely leading the pack. Take a look at his Classic Q Hillier Hobo and you’ll know what I’m talking about. Classic design, well constructed & far away from those horrendous hefty price tags of the so-called “It” bags (Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Gucci and the likes I am talking to YOU!).

High Fashion 4937 Hobo

UPDATE (06/13/2010): This hobo by High Fashion isn’t what I’d call a steal, but it will still save you about $150 compared to the real M by MJ bag. Plus, it’s also available in the most gorgeous nude and red color! ♥ ♥ ♥

Nila Anthony “Bianca” Kisslock Hobo

HOT DEAL: Use coupon code “SPRING2010” to receive 15% OFF your order!

Now I understand not everyone can or is willing to lay down almost $400 for a bag. I probably fall into this category myself since you may have noticed that I’m all about shoes. Luckily for us shoe aficionados we have Nila Anthony to lend us a hand, so we can keep our cash to spend it on shoes, but still not have to toss our stuff into paper bags. Her “Bianca” hobo is eerily similar looking to the Classic Q Hillier hobo, don’t you agree? It does seem to miss the detachable crossbody strap which I find a bit sad, but apart from that I totally dig this designer inspired bag.

ASOS Lock Detail Slouch Bag

Seeing this second bag by ASOS I’m starting to think that I might’ve actually missed the Real Deal bag because the ASOS version looks a lot like the Nila Anthony hobo. Anyway, this bag is also a great affordable option if you can’t afford the M by MJ original. Not available in black, but the mink color does look good as well, doesn’t it?

These sandals from the Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2009 collection originally retailed for $550, but are now on sale for $302.47 at Endless. The brown version is sold out, but you can still buy the lace-up sandals in white and black.

Unlisted “Pretty Please” Sandals

UPDATE (05/26/2010): If you’re still lusting for a great pair of lace-up sandals like the M by MJs above, try these knockoffs by Unlisted. Available in ice or black.

Type Z “Ritchie” Lace-Up Sandals

Now look at these knockoffs by Type Z. Pretty awesome, huh? They have different laces, but everything else looks the same. To be honest, I actually prefer the Type Z version. They aren’t the cheapest, but the quality seems quite good, so the price is probably justified.

Victoria Beckham was spotted grabbing lunch with hubby & kids a few days ago. Vicky B was immaculately dressed as usual wearing a floral Marc by Marc Jacobs dress, blue YSL Trib Two pumps as well as her trademark Hermés Birkin bag and oversized shades.
